The Classroom don’t we have fun doing work? “Oh no someone groans as Mr. Baker handed out the Anatomy test. When I took this class, phrases like ‘looks good on your record’, ‘college level class’, and ‘so interesting' danced in my head. Now, as I look at this test, the only thing I’m thinking about is going out tonight with my friends. Moving on to second hour, I can hear my stomach talking to me. “Give me food, NOW!” “Shut up!” I say with clenched teeth. “Food, food, food! my stomach yells back. “SHUT UP!” I yell back. Why is everybody looking at me so funny? I’m leaning my head on my desk as Mr. Ross walks by and taps me on the head with a protractor. “It’s only third hour, WAKE UP! Trigonometry is FUN! Let’s get going!” “Mr. Ross, I'm not having any fun! Where’s the fun? I don’t see any fun.” “You're going to have fun whether you like it or not!” I think I have to do some reconditioning of my thinking. Something must be wrong with me because I can’t say that ‘4 hours of Trig homework is FUN’. Well, this hour I can relax, have a little Pepsi, munch food, and have a chat with my friends. No such luck. “Story deadlines are due today? No! Say that's not so Mrs. Miller!” Now they're trying to make me crazy with story deadlines. First Mr. Ross and now Mrs. Miller. Boy, am I full. What a lunch! Isn’t eating fun?!! I love to eat. Then I love to sleep. But NOOOO! Some teachers have some sort of psychological problem with students sleeping in their class. So fine!! I’m ready to go home now, I really am. Some dumb person made a 6th hour and I could just strangle them right now. Even worse, I have had the same substitute in this class for the past 3 months. Absolutely no one in the class does the homework except the geek in the front. Then the entire class copies from him. Oh boy! It’s all beginning to catch up with me. Homework, sleep, need for food, life. Is school really necessary? I love school so much. I really do. That’s why I take home every book in my locker. We also protect them with our lives. It’s because we love them so much. We all know that at the end of the day, we really are dissappointed to leave after it has been so much fun. However, we can look forward to the next day when we’ll be back at school having fun.
