Vice-President '.-.rf - 1 l We-S -Ni BL, F SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1931 a group of green, but talented freshmen entered Grand. Junction high school, to leave their never-to-be forgotten remembrances. Th-ey were successfully led by their president, Robert Sternberg. During their Sophomore year David Meens proved an able leader. Four men also lettere-d in athletics. Still coming up in the world, or rather in school, they entered th-eir Junior year with Herbert Jolley as class president. This year Sterling Smith was elected to fill the office of business manager of the Orange and Black and the Tiger. Eight men lettered in football, and four in basketball. Then came the final year, Joe Biggs .4-ef' X aff' :me ga 'O A5599 A 4 L , Q. YC 4, was elected president. Fourteen men re- ceived letters in football, and seven were awarded in basketball. Most of the outstanding men in track were seniors. In December the Seniors entertained the Juniors at th-e annual prom. This was carried- out in modernistic decora- tions of black and silver. The Senior class play Polly With a Past, directed by Dora Smith, was well enacted by the cast. Fifteen Seniors were taken into the Quill and Scroll Chapter, an honorary society for high school journalists. Thirty-one members of the Senior class were elected into the National Honor Society. This is the largest enroll- ment from a Senior class in this high school. F171
