Junior and senior girls composed the Yfleens. The sponsors were Miss La Vona Smith and Mrs. Ella Mae Short. Meetings were held every other Wednesday after school. The lcinds ot programs held atter the busi- ness meeting varied. Among the programs were a panel discussion, a covered dish supper, picture slides, lessons on interior decoration and gift wrap- ping. The Yfleens also made tavors tor the trays ot the local hospitals to help bring cheer to the patients on the ditterent holidays. Throughout the year Yfleens sponsored hour dances. Among these was the Leap Year dance to which the girls brought their dates and competed in making comic corsages. To highlight a successtul year the Yfleens held their annual Spring Formal Dance in May. At the dance rho Y-Teens otticers tor the coming year were announced. Music Club gives Modern Music Masters is an organization tor high school students who like to get together to sing, play and enjoy music. ln Grand lsland High School there is an instrumental music masters and a vocal music masters group. Usually these groups are held individually, but once in a while a joint meeting is held tor initiation ot members, or installation ot otticers. lt has been just recently that Grand Island has become attiliated with the national organization. This year a convention was held in Hastings during the time ot the music clinic. Each group in the state Christmas Program sends representatives tor state otticers and a small music group to pertorm. Arlene Urban was elected state president, and Kenny Schettel, historian. Most ot the year is spent in rehearsal tor one or more programs presented by the organization. This year a Christmas program was presented and one student assembly program. MMM pertormed at the state school board convention. New members are chosen on interest, ability, and scholarship.
