the top prep team all season. They racked up 342 points to their opponents 44. Honors were received by many Islander players. Mike Lee, defensive end and offensive back. and Richard Roenfeldt, tackle, were placed on the post season mythical Associated Press team, and the World-Herald squad. Picked on the Associated Press team was Claire Boroff, back. Darrel Pinkston, back, was on the World-Herald eleven. A majority of the pigskin players were mentioned on most of the Big Ten Con- ference and East Division clubs. Creighton Prep of Omaha, the World-Herald's co-champion, and Lincoln Northeast were added to next year's sched- ule to replace Kearney and Omaha North. Kearney dropped GI so they could play cflcctions smaller schools that are in their class of football. The Islander's pact with Omaha North ended this year. Don Inks, guard and center, ended his GI high school football career when he reinjured a shoulder he had hurt in an early Claire Boroff Sprints for one of GI's touchdowns. in the Islanders' convincing 40-O Big Ten Play-off victory against McCook. practice session in the third game of the season against Columbus. Tootie was making his first appearance of the pigskin season when the accident occurred. Don worked as a student manager and morale- builder for the squad after the injury. Placed on every all-state eleven and most of the Big Ten Conference selections was Tackle Richard Roenfeldt. Dick was noted for his good linebacking. He played reserve and varsity ball in his junior year. Richard, along with Larry Westerbeck, was voted by the team as honorary co-captain, after the successful gridiron year.
