Pigskin Warriors The Purple and Gold banner was carried through a victorious season which was climaxed by a lour-day trip to Scotts- bluff to represent the Eastern division of the Big Ten conference against the Bearcats, winner ol the Vvestern division. Opening their schedule with a 26 to 6 triumph over the Norlollc Panthers at Ryder lield, the lslanders showed a squad com- posed of teamworlc, spirit, and a combina- tion oi power and speed. The llollowing weelt end, Coach Cuivenis boys travelled to Hastings to visit the highly touted Tigers. They fought hard. stopping many Hastings scoring threats, but laclted the services ol Gene Post, triple-threat lmaclc, who was lost on the opening lciclcolll lay a ltnee injury.
