EDITORIAL. After the terrilie toil of weeks, the surmountin g of obstacles which seemed unsurmountable, the annual is out. Perhaps you have always regarded the staff as a group of favored beings, who get a maximum amount of honor for a minimum amount of work. If I3-r-i-e-k-b-a-t-s spell honor, that's the ease. Perhaps this is the opinion of you, who have never hounded teaehers for their pietures, then sat up all night geting them ready for the engraversg you, who have never hunted budding authors 1o their lair for long delayed articles, you who ha ve never persuaded hard-hearted business men into taking a full page, after they have sworn they would not take an inehg you, who have never lain awake nights, trying to devise some new rounterfeit system so as to get the cash to pay bills, long since due, but if you have done all these things, and at the same time had to eonvinee irate teachers that you were burning the midnight oil to get you r studies, then you are oompetent to sit in judg- ment on our sins of omission and supposed partiality. NVe leave it to such critic-s to eonnnend the omission, but eoneerning that which we have written -we have striven to represent truly and impartially every phase of lligh Sehool work and to portray the varied activities of this year, so that in future years it will bring to mind delightful memories of G. l. ll. S. Two new sections have been added, Alumni and one for Autographs. Q But whatever your opinion may be, we wish to assure you that we have honestly and earnestly tried to put into this issue of the Purple and Gold all that We were eapable of giving. We ean there- fore eonsole ourselves with this quotation: Art thou little, do thy little well and for thy eom fort know, Great men ean do their greatest work, no better th an just so. TWELVE

Boost!!!! In this sehool, as in every other, there are many varieties of students, boosters, knockers, dead ones, etc. CYou know what we meanj. Not trying to classify ourselves with gifoup number two, we intend to mention a few weak points in which improvement could certainly be made. For instanee, our Literary Societies, our '4Debaters and Glee Clubs Call. XVith the talent we have had mani- fested in Grand Island lliwh Sehool on a few ocea sions it seems that something worth while could YN 3 1 he accom Jlished in these lines. Now to Jrove we clon't belonv' to the aforesaid '7'l'0U we wish t.: 7 P' 1' ! commend the spirit shown by the students at the football games. But who could help but he enthus- iastic when we have such good teams? Now that the small beginning has been made it should then be easier to work up pep in other lines and put Grand Island on the map, for a live high sehool is one of the best advertisements of a live town, so, Everybody Boost!!! is a good motto for our school. Did you ever think of the boosters outside the High School. llow about the advertisers? lf it were not for them, their loyal support, how could the Purple and Gold be put out with so little financial aid from the students. Let the students now strive to make li. I. ll. S. a school of whieh the business men will be proud and glad to support. Now, again, we say, EVERY- BODY BO0S'I'!!!! XVe, the Staff, take this means of thanking' all those who have aided us in making' this issue of Purple and Gold the best ever. THTRTEEN , 5 gl
