M. C. A. Stag Social. The gathering of the boys of Grand Island College on a still moonlight evening, has developed into an annual success. This is where the new nfen get acquainted with the pranks and frivolties of the older ones. ' l t 8 Friday night, September 16, was set for the usual stag socia a o'clockg everybody feven male faculty membersj came prepared to roast T weiners, throw more wood and boxes on the blazing coals, and to eat water- a melons in regular campfire uniforms. The entire evening was spent in boisterous merriment, various pranks, X H'bb' Hall where the gentle bass voices could U and a concluding serenade of 1 s , not be restrained, and sent forth melodious chords which filled the corridors 4 and upper halls of the building. W. C. A. Hike September 16. Every year the Y. W. C. A. girls walk to some secluded spot, eat too many wienerwursts and saunter wearily back home. That's what hike means. This fall we went to Rentfrow Grove and fafter Doll's arrivalj roasted half of each Wiener and ate the other half raw, that is, if the Whole Wiener didn't fall into the fire. After that we played New York and Bos- ton. All of the girls enjoyed being children again. As soon as it began to grow dark We came back to the dormitory, tired? No, ready for another hike. College Reception September 19. On this, our first Monday night, we all were recepitioned in the Col- lege chapel-an annual occurrence. The receiving line included President G. W. Taft, Mrs. Robert Taft, Dr. and Mrs. Elmore, Dr. and Mrs. Suther- land, Miss Boomer and Miss Pinder. Several of the Conservatory faculty entertained us with music and readings. Mr. John Gekas welcomed the new students, to which welcome Miss Marjorie Scoville responded. Dr. Elmore greeted the student body in behalf of the faculty, making every student feel that he was wanted-yea, really needed in Grand Island College. A most enjoyable evening was spent in getting acquainted, after which light refreshments were served. Football Banquet.
