Jesse Hungate, Harry Linton, Robert Taft The work of the Grand Island College Glee Club this year has won it a place among the best Glee clubs of the state. Although the work of the club was not as extensive as it should have been, the club was well received and highly praised at every town in which concerts were given. Its success was largely due to the splendid direction of A. Haberstro, head of the voice department of the Grand Island Conservatory. Besides directing the club, Professor Haberstro did the solo work. He has a wonderful personal- ity and a superb voice. Every time he made an appearance his singing brought forth great applause. In addition to the glees by the entire chorus and the solos by Professor Haberstro, the quartet-Messrs. Nicholas, Paine,

Taft, rendered excellent numbers. Some of the best numbers of the program were the readings by Mrs. Josephine Taft. These gave variety to the entertainment, and people show- ed their appreciation of them by innumerable encores. Her voice of rich quality and dramatic instinct makes her characters fairly live before her audiences. The club was also fortunate in having Fay Cramer and Gordon Taft with it. These gentlemen gave a negro comedy sketch which was greeted with great applause. As an accompanist, Miss Marie Lindberg with her rare musical training, was invaluable to the club. Her piano solos were especially well received. Mr. James Stockwell has had much exper- ience in band and orchestra work, and his cornet solos were far above the standard. It is hoped that most of the members of the club will return next year, and that the club may be permitted to fill more engagements than it filled his year.
