April Illflfaculty organize into a fast baseball team. Batteries for todayis game: Bosworth and King. Other Big Leaguers such as Sanders. Thoma. Mead. Rich- ards. Cohrs. Arnold will also appear in the lineup. April I3-Coach Bosworth gives out basketball letters to the Championship team and also to his Scrubs Coach Cohrs. Mr. Bosworth explained. couldnit appear for he was home shaving. April I5-A group of Kalamazoo College students and two instructors give a very clever program. Kalamazoo College and Why One Should Go to lt. was the topic spoken on by one instructor. Two readings were given by the teacher of public speaking. and the students gave musical selections. April I7-Faculty bows to Seniors in first game of year, 8 to 7. Bosworth blows up in fifth, giving way to Sanders. Peters easily holds the slugging Mur- derer's Row of the faculty. April I9-Program. in charge of Key Ticklers. It included ukelele and piano selec- tions. readings and exhibitions of various kinds of typing. April 20-Stewards. stokers. mates and almost everyone but Captain Fisher out today. The good ship is about to complete its last course and many preparations are yet to be made to make the run successful. April 27-Everybody on deck early to see commercial contestants leave for Muske- gon to compete in district contest. This afternoon track team meets Union. MAY May I7-Everything running smoothly. The ship is progressing steadily on its way toward the end of its journey. llluy 30-The crew. captain and other members take a day's holiday to commemor- ate the heroic work of our soldiers. We stop at a town by the name of Grand Haven to join in the exercises taking place on terra firma. JUNE .lune 7-Junior-Senior reception. June 1,3-We encounter a terrible storm because exams are now in progress. A good day's work! 18-Student Council gives pep meeting before Creston game. Prof. Thoma explains how the fates will win for us. 19-The Thoma theory is only another 28-20. 21-25-Everyone is enjoying the exams. The teachers love to correct them and the students simply can't wait to write them. This is the first bad weather we have met on our cruise, but all live through it. 25-South is trimmed. 22-12. 26-Benton Harbor can't hold lead. and loses game to Grand Haven, 22-21. 28fHalf of our trip is completed and we find ourselves another half notch higher in high school standings. 31-High School Band presents its Third Annual Band Concert in good form, winning much support from townspeople. FEBRUARY 54Mr. Miller arrives late to take pictures but finishes on schedule. Interview card system begun. No more hall roaming from now on. 6-Teachers' Institute. 8-Havenite staff 'Lpestersn us for another semester-subscription. 21-Juniors very cleverly present Captain Applejackfi 22-Mr. Swart gave a very interesting talk on our Service to the United Statesv referring to the service of George Wasliingtoii. whose birthday we were com- mernorating. 28-In the Declamation and Oratorical Contest the highest honors were awarded to Marian Kamhout and Walter Fisher. respectively. MARCH theory gone wrong as Creston wins, March 4fVictorious Republicans present a Hoover inaugural assembly. Miss Bell has a Majestic radio hooked up in her history room so students could hear the inaugural ceremonies. March 8-The Hi-Y boys give a play called. A Case of Suspension? Don't you think Arend and Paul are good looking girls? March 11-Rev. Grattan of Muskegon Heights wins the applause of the students by his witty remarks. applying them to the people of today. March 13-Senior class meets to pick announcements. March 14-Grand Haven defeats Greenville in Regional Basketball Tournament. March 16-Grand Haven defeats Grand Rapids Catholic Central to take Regional crown and right to enter State Tournament at Detroit.
