As We kcmembcr Him . . . No man is an island . . . . . . Send not for whom the bell tolls, It tolls for thee. John Dorme wrote this poem centuries ago. ln our time, a man who seemed ito know and live the meaning of this poem to the fullest graced- our pres- ence. Dr. A. Ray West, former President of the Board of Education, was a man of many interests, a man ringing with enthusiasm for life and the advance- ment of our civilization. His interest in the stu- dents of Grand County School District transcended the material world. His service to his community, his pleasing personality, even unto his last days, his recognition of the true meaning of friendship, his professional excellence as a dentist, and his de- votion to his family are a part of the living mem- ory of Dr. West. May the achievements of this man be burned into our existence as an example of the results of educative processes in our society. The MOGRANDAH staff proudly dedicares this page to the memory of a great person. p 7

Salma! Kaard l w w 4 w N The citizen's arm of control and responsibility in the Grand County School District, the school board, has emerged with interested and cooperative leadership to achieve what seems best for your education. Many problems have faced this board, perhaps more than in the history of GCHS, and they have attempted to meet and solve these problems realistically. We should be proud of these leading citizens, interested in the future of Moab youth. Left to right, C,R. Sundwall, superin- tendentg Ralph Griffin, memberg Mrs. Erma Wimmer, clerk-treasurer, John Keogh, presidentg LG. Pinkerton, memberg Mrs. Erma Newell, memberg and Chester Brostrom, member.

rinczjmzl If I could go back a good many years and plan my high school career once again. I can think of a good many things I would like to do differently. I think I would have more fun--but in a more reasonable way. I think I might look earlier and closer to discover the wisdom and real concem of some of my teachers--facts I recognize a few years late. I think I would take a closer look at myself and plan accord- inglyg Our problems are somewhat alike, yours and mine. I can't go back and live it over again, and neither can you. The difference is that my opportunity was THEN. Yours is NOW, Rex Douglas, Principal
