7aaz'5a!Z Sammmq Coach Herb Carlson's 1955 Grand Coulee Tiger football team finished eighth in the state among class B high schools, having a record of seven wins and only one loss. This loss was to Ritzville by a one-touch- down margin. The team was honored by having Dick Pozar and Ron Overbey place HERB CARLSON on the first All-Star team of North Central Washington, and Ron Kerby on the second. Coach Carlson, after two very successful seasons with the Grand Coulee Tigers, has been called into the service where he is serving as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. Although the boys will sorely miss Mr. Carlson's expert coaching and the loss of several senior lettermen, they still hope to have a fine team next year. Zcwdetfafl S The G. C. H. S. Tigers, with Dan Droz as coach, finished a very successful basket- ball season, with a record of twelve wi.ns and six losses. When the Tigers played host to a Christmas Invitational Tournament, Grand Coulee took first, Coulee Dam, secondg Coulee City, thirdg and Almira, fourth. In the county tournament the Tigers first played Warden and won 64 to 43. On the next night they beat a Mansfield team 63 to 48. The championship game was played between Grand Coulee and Quincy. Grand Coulee played an excellent game of con- trolled ball, losing to Quincy b only one point--final score 19 to 18. Ronny Kerby placed on the All-County first give, and Gary Wert and Gary Larson won berths on the All-County second. The G. C. H. S. Tigers, by taking second in the county, won the right to enter the North Central Washington District Tournament which was played at Grand Coulee. After winning their first DAN DROZ two games in this event, they played Win- throp for the championship. They lost this game by a large score, but by the rules of double elimination the Ti ers played Entiat for second place. After Losing, they auto- matically took third place in the tournament. The boys are to be congratulated for being I one of the few Grand Coulee teams which have gone this far in the district. Sponsored by THE SILVER DOLLAR and KAP'S FLYING A 6o
