The next day the Freshman were up bright and early for orienta- tion, and on Thursday they joined the returning students as everyone got back into the swing of things at the Canyon. 9esi63121$ ReceMon On Sept. 15th. the student body had the opportunity to greet our new president at the President's Recep- tion. Students and faculty enjoyed refreshments and fellowship and took advantage of this time to get to know each other. 19 pirifuaf ampgasis llH'lIHlIHHlIHiH !' Spiritual Emphasis is that special time of year during the fall and spring semesters when there is an emphasis placed upon spiritual re- newal and awakening. 20 21 22 Mrvesf aestivaf uSaturday Night at the Movies was the theme chosen by the Junior Class for this yeark HARVEST FESTIVAL. Much effort and ener- gy was expended to make this night one to remember. Booths lined the mall, representing various movies, and the Cafeteria served, as the Showplace Theatre. Cindy Ray and Tom Rosati were crowned Harvest Festival King and Queen and were the brightest stars of the evening. 23 24 T5e Magiage 0 aigaro The Opera Workshop, under the direction of Dr. Macon Dela van, performed Mozartk Thc Marriage ofFigaro for the cultural entertain- ment of G.C.C. students December 4-5. Richard Hintze, Laura Ward, Karen Grinstead, Barry Miller, Les- lie Hendricks, Susan Powell, Sherri Former, Dannctte Brown and D3 vid Holt were among the talented cast who were accompanied by Dr. Paul Paige. 2' e 13mm in Winter On November 16-18, the G.C.C. Drama Dept., under the direction of Roger Miller, presented The Lion ln Winter.n Set in 12th century France, the pla y revolved around the conlYicts between Henry II of Eng- land iRandy Peughi; his wife, Elea- nor of Aquitaine iTerri Smithi; his mistress Alais iSherri Paglia; his sons Richard iDon Crosby, Geof- frey iRob BennetU, and John Uim Pattersoni; and, Philip of France i Dann y Hobaicai.
