Coach Aycock was in charge of the program this year and the activities offered were basketball, football, volley- ball, tennis, badminton, and archery. Boys who were not on the regular team enjoyed playing intramural basketball. I Volleyball was enjoyed by both boys and girls throughout the intramural program. Sports Girl's basketball was fun, but got pretty rough at times A new addition to the GCC athletic depart- ment this year was the weight room. joe McCarthy brought his own set of weights and works out every afternoon with a group of boys who are interested in building up their bodies. D. Pastor A WARM WELCOME The members of Central Baptist always take pleasure in welcoming visitors and new membersg yet they have an especially warm welcome for students from Grand Canyon College. The church has supported the college from its beginning and the college family has a large number among the leadership of Central Church. A CHURCH HOME Everyone needs a church home and that it no less true the college student. At Central the college student finds an unusually fine Young Peoples' Department in both Sunday School and Training Union and a church staff keenly aware of the contribution to be made to the church program by young people while intensely sympathetic with the problems young people face. College young people are always at home in Central. A PLACE OF SERVICE While Central's leadership believes that it is healthy for young people to be in Young Peoples' Departments in the church organizations it also believes that Young People should be given opportunities to serve and is constantly on the lookout for opportunities. SPLENDID MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES Central Church is the only church in the Phoenix area whose Youth Choir leads the Sunday Evening worship service every Sunday. Believing in this program the church furnishes supper for the choir every Sunday. The Centralaires Girls Ensemble is known for excellence. Music leadership is unsurpassed. 2518 N.
