Hers is the kind of example that is seldom lauded but always rec- ognized for its Christian merit, It is with great pleasure that we, the staff, dedicate the 1961 Canyon Trails to her in recognition of the outstanding work she has accomplished in the field of Christian education. .ff CHURCH LIBRARY MISSION DRIVE BAPTIST CHURCH 7801 N. 27th AVLPE' Ei P Q3E.NIX, ARIZONA 89021 MRS. The only thing we can do is say thank you. How true this is in connection with all who have a part in the life of Grand Canyon College. The Trustees, the Administration, the Faculty, the Staff and the Students all play their part in building a greater college in every way. There is another group that can lift the college to the mountain tops, in greatness, by their spirit of service as they leave our campus. These are the graduates of this year along with all the alumni. Let us pledge our best in service that Grand Canyon College can be all that God intends it to be, today and forever. Back row: Noel Paul Taylor. Another winning season went into the rec- ord books as the unpredictable Antelopes chalked up twelve wins while losing ten during the 1960-61 campaign. Under the leadership of Coach Dan Reed, the Grand Canyon College's basketeers provided plenty of excitement all year for the fans. In a most erratic season the Ante- lopes displayed dazzling ability as they won sev- en of their first nine games. The lustre faded, however, as the team dropped eight of their next ten games but glowed again as the team swept the last three. During the 60-61 season, the Antelopes played ASC three times. In the first game, the Antelopes were trampled by twenty-one points. In the second game, the much favored Axers were beaten by four points. In the final game the Antelopes ran over the Axers with a 90-68 win. GCC GCC GCC GCC GCC GCC GCC GCC GCC GCC GCC GCC Alumni La Verne College Cal. Baptist Nevada Southern Ariz. State Col. The church has supported the college from its beginning and the college family has a large number among the leadership of Central Church. A CHURCH HOME Everyone needs a church home and that it no less true the college student. At Central the college student finds an unusually fine Young Peoples' Department in both Sunday School and Training Union and a church staff keenly aware of the contribution to be made to the church program by young people while intensely sympathetic with the problems young people face. College young people are always at home in Central. A PLACE OF SERVICE While Central's leadership believes that it is healthy for young people to be in Young Peoples' Departments in the church organizations it also believes that Young People should be given opportunities to serve and is constantly on the lookout for opportunities. SPLENDID MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES Central Church is the only church in the Phoenix area whose Youth Choir leads the Sunday Evening worship service every Sunday. Believing in this program the church furnishes supper for the choir every Sunday. The Centralaires Girls Ensemble is known for excellence. Music leadership is unsurpassed. 2518 N.
