On February 9. the gymnasium of Grand Blanc High was transformed from its bright and barren everyday appear- ance to a softly-lighted moonlight scene. with a galaxy of glistening stars completing the 'Stardust' theme. Glen Olm- stead and his orchestra provided music for the traditional Junior-sponsored dance, the J-Hop. The Juniors were rewarded for their hard work in the fund-raising campaign when, at the highpoint of the eve- ning, Bill Yerkey and Lorna Lawson were crowned King and Queen of the J-Hop by class president, Bob Burek. Supervising the enthusiastic effort of the juniors were the committee chairmen, Carol Biggam, Ann Sullivan, jack Miller, Sandra Burgess, and janet Stevens, directing the theme, publicity, tickets, decoration, and refreshment com- mittees, respectively. The willing aid and advice of Mr. Kerensky, Junior Spon- sor, proved invaluable in making their first big project of the year a laudable success. Q gal' O O f Q mx V Queen Marge and King Frank reign over the '56 Prom Marge Tune and Frank Harris reigned as king and queen over the Senior Prom on May 29, 1956. This couple chosen by the Senior Class led the Grand March later in the evening. Students and guests danced to the music of Dick Benson and his Orchestra. Carrying out the theme of Moonlight and Roses were decorations which featured a rustic bridge across a trickling brook. A blooming magnolia tree added greatly to the charm of the theme. Behind a white fence clustered with red roses were bright colored evergreens. A wall painted to resemble brick, gave final touches to the garden atmosphere. Refreshments were served on the balcony, which was also decorated in accordance with the theme. Students Marge Tune and Mary Hutchison served as chairmen of the Prom Committees. Chaperones were: Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Bates, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pepper, Mr. and Mrs. Al Leary, Miss Hazel Dowd, Mrs. Betty Ire- lan, Mr. and Mrs. Don McCloy, and Mr. Marvin Hoppert. Senior Prom-An Enjo able Evening. 5 Up in front during the Grand March are Phyllis Passmore, Jack Richardson, Carol Buell, Rex Peterson, Queen Marge Tune, King Frank Harris, Coralee Cook, and Marshall Forbush.
