This school, which is located on Todd Street in Whig- ville, was named after the president of the Grand Blanc School Board of Education, Mr. Paul E. McGrath. The school is a one story, twenty-one room building with a cafeteria. library, and an auditorium-gymnasium. Among the many new features in this beautiful school are a radiant heat- ing system in the ceiling and diffusion block glass. The seventh grade achieved recognition by winning twenty-five dollars for their Rock around the Clock float in the homecoming parade. ln November they treated themselves to a party with the money they earned. ln January, a roller skating party provided fun for all. In March, and again in May, the eighth grade held disc jockey dances resulting in a couple late nights and many sleepy eyes. While the Freshmen did not have to go through the terrors of initiation at the hands ofthe Sophomores they were kept busy adjusting to the social and academic life at Grand Blanc High School. Choosing and receiving the class rings was the main delight for the tenth grade high school students. The Juniors' social activities were centered around the J-Hop in February and class play in March. 73 A 7' 17 Und 61131355 men uw Vu I --Xxuw Xuurxx Xxmxti. 4 Mk Ku Nw vvhw Hu-KY -u sXvXqL - Aufmg fve-dxxm u nu lHkU'xX,UU Ku' 4' ' 'cgi Qw- 3 1 i K. High stepping Majorettes + Fine marching formation on the field Under the capable direction of Mr. Arthur Thorsby the Grand Blanc Varsity Band enjoyed an active and successful year. The Band initiated its marching season in the gala Flint Centennial Parade September 7. The next appearance was a half-hour concert offered in the bandshell at the Michigan State Fair September 9. Traveling to Ann Arbor on Octo- ber 15, the band participated during the half time of the Michigan-Northwestern football game with 6,000 other high school youths in the eighth annual Band Day . Not to be overlooked were the tricky formations by the band and the majorettes which delighted the fans during the half times of the nine Grand Blanc Football games. 76 Lefl to Right-Row I: Juldeen Borton, Kathleen Mutschett.
