0 I' PAUL Mc GR ATI-I President Ii ZR A W . PERRY l Secretary -I. VINCENT MURPH Y, D.0. Treasurer GIQQLL aclminisfrafora The Grand Blanc High School Board of Education is concerned not only with school government but also with the improvement of school facilities, revision of curriculum, and the bettering of the community. Through the efforts of the Board many projects have been approved and are now being worked on. One of the many projects of the school board has been the building of the new elementary school in Whigville. Only the latest features of school construction, after being carefully investi- gated, have been adopted. An advisory commit- The ground was broken for the new elementary building last spring. Participating in the ceremony were Mr. Brendcl, Mr. Pepper, Dr. Morrison, Mr. Perry, Mr. Mc- Grath, Mr. Harris, Mr. Wild, Dr. Murphy and Mr. Howell. 8 tee, consisting of members of Grand Blanc civic organizations and of the Grand Blanc faculty, accompanied the board members on tours through schools in Chicago, Milwaukee, and Ann Arbor for viewing and selecting these new fea- tures. A new type of heating system, which has been installed and found satisfactory in one of the schools studied, is to be installed in the new elementary building. Skylights providing more and better light have been approved and will be installed in the new school. Grand Blanc has set the pace for new school construction as other schools are now adopting these modern building features. The Board has been instrumental in the organization of a co-operative committee to make recommendations for solving problems inter- related with the city, township, and school dis- trict. The committee, consisting of two members each from the city council, town board, and the Board of Education, studies such problems as traffic control connected with the new school, sewage disposal, new highways and roads near the school grounds, and zoning ordinances. This procedure eliminates two or more organizations working on the same problem. Possible solutions are worked out and reported to the instrumental organization after careful study.
