SCIENCE DEPARTMENT Wading in the waters of the Chesapeake Bay with seine and dip nets collecting fish and other organismsg Hovering over Bunsen burners making soap, perfume and deodorantg checking air and noise pollution levels in the communityg disecting fetal pigs. These are just a few of the varied activities carried on by science students and teachers at Granby High School. By expanding the use of laboratory exercises, community resources and indi- vidualized instruction, the science department hopes to encourage student interest and participation in the sciences. The objective of every science course, regardless of its content, is to provide the student with a firm scientific background which will help him to survive in an increasingly technological society and serve as a basis for continued study in the field. is Mrs. Ioan Mapes FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEPARTMENT Granby High offers five years of Spanish and French, four years of Latin and three years of German and Russian. The students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities and inves- tigate the sources of pleasure pertaining to the countries of their particular language. Once yearly the French and Spanish clubs hold separate social functions, usually at Christmas. The teachers of this department are fond of promoting travel.
