Casey What is one of the services rendered by the faculty that is most important to the stu- dent body? Selling tickets to the difterent sports events, ot course, and although it is a thankless iob, there is a member of our faculty who has sold tickets for many years. In addition, he is also athletic director. Serving in this capacity, his responsibilities are numerous. Not only does he have to check the eligibility of all candidates for sports and supervise all sports equipment, but he must also schedule the games, aid with publicity, and provide transpoitation for members of the team. Many safe drivers who have graduated from Granby will long remember their first lessons with this capable instructor in the Driver Train- ing Course. For all his contributions to us and to Granby, we, the class of l957, proudly dedicate our book to Mr. Raymond S. Casey. g - 1 . i i f ..f A .1 I jf! , ' ' i ,Jlj Y I ' A i Q Y -' 5 il QM' ' dxf! On this page, from top to bottom: Qn senior day, seniors teach classes. The original Kenneth Harris watercolor in our new library was given by the 1956 senior class. These students are not working alone, Mr. Best is nearby, Mr. Smith, Mr. Minter, and Mr. Casey dis- cussing features of the new gym with one ot the builders. On the opposite page: A library runs an paperwork, as Mr. Braun knows Students register for classes with Miss Mitchell. Mr. Maguschak sees 'that the work is right. Principals and coaches discuss prospects for the season over a ,cooling drink. Members of the physical education stat? wait for students to sign for classes. Miss Balasca tells parents about classroom work. .sq n 35 J ix ..rl'f' ' ,Q 1 N N f m' 'idl--J NIU., LJ' :um 5 7 ' A, NNN Sh Student Assistants Many of the tasks that keep our school of their time and eftort, very often with little functioning smoothly would never be done so reward but the thanks of the teacher they quietly and efiiciently if it were not for stu- are assisting and the knowledge of a iob well dent assistants. This winning streak was broken by the Defending State Champions, Norvievv. With such a loss as this the team had its initial setback of the year, But in the following weeks the Comets came back to tie a very strong Hampton squad, and to beat Newport News. Traveling to Wilson tor the next to the last game, the team ran into difficulty against a very hard toe. The loss at Wilson seemed to have a great ettect upon the Comets' tradi- tional Thanksgiving Day Game. Composed of two divisions, the Granby Student Government resembles our national government. The problems of student life are taken to these bodies who strive to work for the good of every Granbyite. The first of the divisions is the Senate. It is made up of the Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the stu- dent government and the President and Senator from each class and is presided over by the President of the student government. Leading the House of Representatives, which consists ot a representative from each homeroom, is the Vice-President. Because of able ofticers and the excellent advice rendered by Miss Mary Lee Tillette, the student body has been able to enjoy many things. This year Granby has initiated its own radio station, W.G.H.S. Other projects under the Student Government are: Honor Code, Morning Devotionals, Clean-up Campaign, and HOWDY week. 128 fifitiifffwn f1'?2f'aimf ij giszisi.. x 'Jff yi....., -tr The Student Scnute oppioves Christmas by G unonA imous vote.
