W . 1 ! as I it 1 5 GRANBURY HIGH SCHOOL Office of Superintendent TO THE GRADUATES CF 1942 First allow me to commend you as a student body for the fine work you are doing in putting out this annual The last annuals were a credit to the school but this one Judging from what I have heard 1S going to surpass all of them I am proud of the student body for the work that is being done in this respect In times like this when everyone is upset over world conditions it seems foolish to talk to you about doing your best for National Defense However I feel an urge to do so I am sure that you are ing your best by g1V1Dg your full Cooperation in every undertaking of your Government I know that you are putting your spare pennies to work for Democracy buying Defense Stamps and Bonds This is a fine Amer ican spirit and America is proud of you for these things However there is another thing that America expecting of you You are too young to go out on t e battle field and defend our Nation now but you are not too young to prepare yourself to carry forward the banner of education and civilization You must be prepared to take your places in our civilization and uphold the honol of this country for ever To do thrs you must be prepared You are just as 1mpor tant rn thrs world conflict as are the armed forces No matter how hard our soldiers fight to preserve Deomcracy for America rt cannot stand unless you are prepared to defend it rn the future against all who would overthrow rt This is a challenge to you my young friends to do your bit now by gettlng the most out of your education in order to prepare your self to make this world a better place in which to live America must not fail' A lot depends on you Sincerely i ,p-1' Q 93' maxi 'S 'W' K .
