Veterans’ Day at Grambling State University was celebrated with a ceremony featuring Air Force and Army ROTC units, university faculty and staff members, administrators and stu- dents. Highlighting this year’s event was a special flag-raising cere- mony. At 11 a.m. Nov. 11, AFROTC Detachment 311 in con- junction with junior and senior AFROTC units across the United States and Western Europe, participated in “Operation Young America.”’ During this activity, participants conducted simulta- neous flag-raising ceremonies at over 250 different colleges, uni- versities and high schools. Yes, First National Bank checked out of Grambling in late February, but not before its staff had thrown a unique “Going Away Party.” In early April the bank was declared insolvent. It was tak- en over by the federal government before being bought by a banking establishment in Alexandria. The only financial establishment left in town is now the Grambling Credit Union. Financial circumstances at First National brought on the move. Many of its customers complained about the sudden closing. The new bank is operating out of Ruston. The Grambling Ms. Givens completes financial transaction. branch has remained closed. Punch anyone? Customers put the final touches on their accounts. 4 3 4 Lis Classes 79
