11:11 4 I - I CAREER RECORD: , Won 376, Los1' 71 lSince World War Ill PRESIDENT-COACH JON ES Prexy Enters Hall of Fame KANSAS CITY, Mo., May - Two men representing 62 years of college coaching and a former major league player will be inducted into the National Association of Inter-collegiate Athletics CNAIAj Baseball I-lall of Fame in June. Announcement of the selection of the three men was made hy A. O. Duer, executive secretary of the NAIA, who added that two of the men would be honored during the NAIA Baseball Hall of Fame banquet, Sunday, June 7 at St. joseph, Mo., and a third would be honored in August. ' The two coaches who will be honored at St. Joseph are R.VV.E. Jones, president as well as baseball coach at Grambl- ing College, Grambling, La., and Max Molock, baseball coach at St. Mary's College, Winona, Minn. Scheduled to be honored in August is fomier major leaguer James Climmyj Gleeson, a coach with the New York Yankees and a graduate of Rockhurst College, Kansas City, Mo. The presentation will take place in Kansas City. Officials at Grambling claim that their president is the only coaching president in American colleges and he has served in a dual capacity for 38 years. Since World War II, Grambling's teams have won 373 games while losing only 69 and have won more than 700 games since baseball was added to the Grambling athletic program. Grambling reached its all-time high last year when the Tigers placed second in the NAIA National Tournament. Not only does jones direct his team from the third-base coaching box during every game, but he still hits all infield workouts and supervises batting and pitching practice, often pitching batting practice himself. A year ago he was honored by the American Association of College Baseball Coaches with their 25-year award. Players from his teams have signed professional contracts for bonuses that exceed S275,000. hlolock coached three sports at De LaSalle High School, Kansas City, Mo., from 1936-40, then returned to his alma mater, St. Marys, where he has coached for 24 years.
