X . . w ' After 5:30 P.M. iC,S.'1'.J March 26 CFor Sunday AM sh RELEASE: KANSAS CITY, Mo., March .--A pair of giant centers, a high-scoring forward and a sharp-shooting guard with terrific speed have been named to the NAIA All-America basketball team for the second straight year. The quartet of 6-10 Willis Reed, Grambling fLa.J3 6-9 Lueious Jackson, Pan American Cfexasjg 6-5 Jim Boutln, Lewis and Clark Q0re.5, and 6-1 Cecil Tuttle, Georgetown 4Ky.J, heads the 10-man mythical first team. All are seniors. A year ago, Jackson led Pan American to the NAIA National Tournament champion ship and twice has been named the tournament's most valuable player. Pan American placed second ln the l96b national tournament. Phil Shirk, 6-3 senior from Texas ASI, who was a first-team selection in 1962 and was named to the second 10 last year, regained a berth on the first team this year. Shirk missed much of the 1962-63 season with a broken foot, Joining Houtin and Shlrk on the roster of forwards are 6-7 Jesse' Branson, Elon QN.C.j, the lone junior on the top 10, and 6-6 Lou Skurcenski, Nestminster QPa,j. Rounding out the first team are three guards, Dean Church, Southwestern Loulslanag Ralph Telken of national champion Rockhurst CMOJ, and Jerry Moore, Morris Harvey UA.Va. J . Telken, a second team honoree in 1963, proved to be the defensive standout of the national tournament and sparked his team during the regular season with 119 steals or interceptions, Church was the most valuable player in the Gulf States Con- ference and was a big factor in Southwestern gaining a tie for the league title. Moore averaged 26 points a game and led Morris Harvey to the national tournament for the second time Ln three years. Reed helped his team win the national championship four years ago and was the main reason why the Tigers placed third a year ago, This year's Grambling club was upset in the second round after being seeded third. Ile averaged 26 points and 21 re- bounds a game this year for a team that posted a 26-li record.
