Football Rah-Rah's 5 After cheerleading tryouts last spring, six girls were chosen to be the 1980 football cheerleaders. The squad, that was made up of mostly rookie members, proceeded to work very hard through the sum- mer and into the football season. In the summer, the football cheerleaders, plus the basketball cheerleaders, held practice sessions twice a week to develop their skills. They also held three car washes in order to raise money for cheerleading camp. Iune 28 through Iuly 3 the foot- ball and basketball cheerleaders at- tended the International 501 CHEERLEADERS Cheerleading Foundation camp in Lawrence, Kansas. There they in- creased their knowledge and skills in various areas. They won a spirit frisbee on the first day of camp. During the four days that fol- lowed, the cheerleaders were also awarded a creativity ribbon, a spar- kle and shine ribbon, a first place for excellence, and second place in Grand Champs. During the football season the cheerleaders tried to instill spirit in the students as they held pep rallies and cheered for the jayvee and varsity football teams. 12 Suzanne Quick and Cindy Hulett pose for the camera. 3
