Artists On the Move Aspiring artists were seen many times throughout the school year. Persons enrolled in the crafts and 3-D class kept very busy, es- pecially during the spring. The student body chose one design that they wanted to be painted on the lunchroom wall. Bob Hendrickson's design was cho- sen and class members painted this on the wall. Crafts and 3-D members also painted the set that was used for the spring play. Individual talent shined as four oil paintings placed in a Warrensburg showing. Out of 2, 000 entries, only 400 won blue, red, or white ribbons. Four en- tries from Grain Valley were among those few. Iill Grehlein won a red and white ribbon for her oil paintings. Norma Schwartz and Michelle Mershon both received white ribbons. Students in junior and senior high enjoyed working on projects such as pottery, paper sculptures, silk screening, Old English lettering, and a variety of other projects. Chosen projects made through- out the year were displayed in the art case in the gym lobby. Family, members of the commu- nity, and friends had a chance to see the year's best art Works at the PTA meeting on April 16, 1981. On April 29, these artists took a field trip to Kansas City. They visited the Nelson Art Gallery and took a walking tour of the Plaza area to see the statues and fountains. 48l ART ml. .. - W ,- .x gg-L V y, .fl 1 3 s 12 Students paint design on the lunchroom wall. 22 Mitch Blanton paints his model airplane a bright red color. 32 Craft and 3-D students listen and work intently, while Mrs. Burnett explains some- thing. 42 Art students paint on the set for the spring play.
