Seniors Shine The seniors walked forward to the stage led by KIM LYNCH and TONIA SIOFFNER in the order of their enrollment in the school district. The President of the class, BRUCE MERSHON, wel- comed everyone. The Pledge of Allegience was led by LISA EICHENBERGER, President of the Student Council. Then each department presented their awards. Mr. Lyngar presented the Physics and Trig awards to DOUG FRY. Mrs. Burnett presented the Art awards to NORMA SCHWARTZ, RITA SCHREIER, and JILL GERHLEIN. Mrs. Doty presented the Business awards to DEBBIE NAUMAN in Accounting II and to DAYNA LLEWELLYN in speed typing and SHEILA HEARD in speed typing and production typing competition in the State Business Contest. Talents Recognized The yearly awards assembly was held Friday, April 22, in the Grain Valley High School gymnasium. Mr. Burns opened the program by welcoming everyone. Mrs. Basinger presented journalism awards to IACK- IE FOUNTAIN, MARIANNE FRY, GINGER GILLETE, IOE HENSLEY, ELAINE MANN, MICHELLE MERSHON, PATTY OFFICER, LINDA PARKER, LARINDA ROBBINS, KATHERINE RODGERS, LORI TALLEY, and IACKIE STARKE. Mrs. Burnett presented the art award to SHANE MYERS. Mrs. Billings presented the Home Economics awards in Foods to GINGER GILLETTE, Clothing to HOLLY FAGAN, Home Economics I to DENNA LYNCH, and Advanced Home Economics award to KAREN STANFIELD. Mrs. Condra presented the Algebra I top award to LARINDA ROBBINS and Honorable mention to VERNON FORBES and ROBIN HAILEY. Certificates of merit went to MELINDA STALLMAN and DIANA PUGH in Basic Algebra, and AMY BRENNAMAN re- ceived the certificate in 8th grade math. Mrs. Doty presented Typing I award to AARON BUSH, Typing II to DONNA GILLETTE, Shorthand I to IACKIE STARKE and ANN AMOR and the Ac- counting I award to DONNA GILLETTE, Mrs. Higgins presented the 8th grade math awards to BRIA WILLIS and DEBBIE PUGH, 7th grade math to SHELLY REBHOLZ and 7th grade science to SHANNON STUCHLIK. Ms. Holman presented Forensics Medals to VERNON FORBES, IACKIE FOUNTAIN, IOE HENSLEY, TAMIRA HILLBRAND, DIANNA PUGH, LORA RIF- FLE, DAVID WALKER, STANCIE WILLIAMS, and BILL PATTERSON. She presented play medals to VERNON FORBES, IOE HENSLEY, CARLA PEAL, DAVID WALKER, BRENDA BLANKENSHIP, TAMIRA HILLBRAND, ELAINE MANN, JACKIE FOUNTAIN, LARINDA ROBBINS, and LARRY SELVEY. Play awards in the One-Act to VERNON FORBES, IOE HENSLEY, and DAVID WALKER, in Humourous to DAVID WALKER, in Extemp to DA- VID WALKER, in Duet to TAMIRA HILLBRAND and IACKIE FOUNTAIN. The judges' Award to IOE HENSLEY and BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS went to CARLA PEAL. Mr. Spina presented the Band Awards to AARON BUSH, SCOTT DUBIN, DENNA LYNCH, ELAINE MAN N, BRIAN RATIGAN, and LORA RIFFLE for St. Pauls Spring Clinic.
