Seniors Shine The seniors walked forward to the stage led by KIM LYNCH and TONIA SIOFFNER in the order of their enrollment in the school district. The President of the class, BRUCE MERSHON, wel- comed everyone. The Pledge of Allegience was led by LISA EICHENBERGER, President of the Student Council. Then each department presented their awards. Mr. Lyngar presented the Physics and Trig awards to DOUG FRY. Mrs. Burnett presented the Art awards to NORMA SCHWARTZ, RITA SCHREIER, and JILL GERHLEIN. Mrs. Doty presented the Business awards to DEBBIE NAUMAN in Accounting II and to DAYNA LLEWELLYN in speed typing and SHEILA HEARD in speed typing and production typing competition in the State Business Contest. Ms. Holman presented the Dramatics awards in Forensics to PAM CARMICHAEL, RAY CARSON, LISA EICHENBERGER, TRACY ELLIOTT, SCOTT HEPLER, KIM LYNCH, BRUCE MERSHON, CHRIS MUELLER, RITA SCHREIER, TONIA SHOFFNER, and KAREN NELSON-SMITHg in Oratory at St. Paul's to LISA EICHENBERGER, in Storytelling to PAM CARMICHAEL, in Dramatics and One-Act to RAY CARSON, in Oratory to LISA EICHENBERGER, in Radio Broadcasting and One-Act to KIM LYNCH, in One-Act to TONIA SIOFFNER, in One-Act to TRACY ELLIOTT in the I-70 Conference contest, in stage craft to SCOTT HEPLER and CHRIS MUELLER, Best supporting Actor went to BRUCE MERSHON, Best Actress went to LISA EICHENBERGER, and Best Actor went to fRAY CARSON. Mrs. Billings presented the Home Economics awards to BETH MATNEY and KIM LYNCH. Mr. Burns, sribstituting for Mr. Shroyer, presented the Industrial arts awards in Woods II went to CHRIS MUELLER, Woods IV went to STEVE GRAY, Drafting went to SCOTT HEPLER, Most Improved went to TOM ARMSTRONG, Outstanding Senior award to STEVE GRAY. Mrs. Basinger presented the Iournalism awards to NANCY KOLSTER, BETH MATNE, TRACY ELLIOTT, SHERRY DOWNS, and NORMA SWARTZ. Mrs. Maxey presented the Library awards to IULIE REDDELL, TWAYNE WILLIAMS, and BETH MATNEY. Going Gut of Business -14 1 1 D Don't be bashful, Mrs. Doty!! 22 Mrs. Doty prac- tices her typing skills. 32 Taking her turn at the C.P.R. class is none other than Mrs. Doty, 41 I'm just going about my busi- ness!! After giving almost twenty years of unself- ish service to the students of Grain Valley, Mrs. Erma Doty ended her successful teach- ing career at the close of the school year. Mrs. Doty has been the business education teacher most of the years she has taught here. During this time, she has sponsored the yearbook and newspaper, has been junior and senior class sponsors, and has sponsored the pep club and cheerleading squads, beside teaching business classes. Before coming to Grain Valley in 1963, Mrs. Doty attended Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, where she at- tained her minor in math and bachelor's de- gree in business.
