Girls and Boys State Girls and Boys State As ,I sat in the first assembly at Girls State, I thought to myself, Can I stand six more days with girls I don't even know, full days of nothing but government, and no boys? Well as the week progressed and came to its end, the girls I didn't know became my friends, and the study of government became exciting and fascinating. With political campaigns, party rallies, elections, and the entire government system, I found little time to write home or to catch up on my sleep. But, I will always have the time to look back on my at- tendance at Missouri Girls State. Whether you left with tears in your eyes or just a smile on your face, I think everyone there did leave with the pride of being a Mis- souri citizen and a better knowledge of our government system. I'd like to extend my appreciation to those who made this week possible for me, and to the next girl who gets the honor to attend MGS: get to know everyone there and get as involved as you can and you'll have the best time of your life. Sincerely, Lisa Eichenberger Mo. Girls State 1980 Session 124! SENIORS I was deeply honored to have this privilege of attending Mis- souri Boys' State. Boys from all parts of Missouri would be attend- ing this fine conference that the American Legion organized. Missouri Boys' State is a program designed to enlighten the young men of Missouri on how our government functions. The eight days spent, were filled with excitement, friendship, and learning. It brings 960 young men together to participate at all levels of government: to form a Boys' State . I would like to express my deep appreciation to those sponsor- ing me to attend Boys' State. It was an experience I will cherish and honor and never forget. I wish it was possible for more young men to participate, and have the same wonderful exper- ience that I had at Missouri Boys' State. Sincerely, Eric Headley Boys' State Representative 1980 Session
