Dear Diary, The familiar words Graham High School . . . greeted us as we approached the school returning for our final year at G.H.S. Althoughwe were small in number, we were great in the spirit of comradeship that had been developing through the past three years. Butit was not until we marched down the aisle to assembly for the first time that we realized that now WE were Seniors at Graham High. For ten days during September, each of us became occasional guests at home and entered the world of business by selling World's Finest Chocolate, Football season came next, and as we watched the bon fire glowing, we knew that this would be the last pep-rally and the last game that we would enjoy as high school students. Christmas at Graham arrived, bringing with it the traditional heartwarming festivities--the Christmas Dance, the Glee Club program--and the thought of exams. For some of us, these exams were the last we would take at G.H.S., and even through this joyous thou ght there was a note of sadness. After mid-term was over, time literally flew, and before we knew it, April and May had come with our Jr.-Sr. Prom and the long-awaited trip to Washington. We returned, feeling tired but marvelously happy. We felt a bit more mature and independent as we passed still another milestone in our lives. Now, it's all over but the big moment--our graduation. As we share this memorable experience, we shall all vow that these years at Graham High School will never be forgotten. Yes, for a price you may see my little black book! Monster Mash! Why, ''Petunia ! Are we seeing double? You must be sick, that can't be your natural appearance! But my motorcycle is double parked! I wouldn't say you're a nut, but you'll do 'til one comes along! Hark! Do I hear the call of yon tufted titmouse? Sing it purty. Now, when I was at Catawba. . . Hey! Turn up the mike! True, true happiness. wh O otal Je UNMLOLS To manage the affairs of their busiest year, the Junior Class chose Steve Wrenn, President; Mike Ward, Vice-President; Paulette Lockhart, Secretary; and Eugene Yates and Joyce Lindsey, Treasurers. This was the year. ...-- We moved from underclassmen to upperclassmen. This was the year each of us resolved for the third time, ''Now Iam really going to study. . . I really am! This was the year of phone calls, going to football games, teen-age club, and pep rallies. We became braver and more talkative in class. We sold magazines, had bake sales, had a car wash, ordered our class rings, planned and carried out the Junior-Senior. Our Junior-Senior! How hard everyone worked. First there was our theme to debate upon, our wait- resses' costumes to choose, decorating, and finally our big night. Tests! We took tests to see for what we were suited; tests to see for what we weren't suited; and tests to see if we possessed the ability to accomplish those things for which we were suited! By spring we had become a closely knit group who realized their responsibilities as G. H. S. students. We became the officers of the major organizations and hoped that we might fill them as well as they had been filled in the past. Dear Diary, Gee, we finally made it. Just think. . . no longer freshmen! This is truly the great year. . . to be sophomores. This is the time when we really begin to feel accepted as an integral part of the student body. Seniors might labelus silly sophomores, but we no longer feel unwanted, Maybe we're not yet sophis- ticatedbut we are beginning to feel very erown-up.'' As sophomores we get a glimpse of the real work and enjoyment of a high school career. Now we feel like full-fledged members of the student body. Sophomores participate in the athletic program and this group is very active in Student Council affairs. Socially, we are at ‘last tin the swing of things. It was all new and we'd never been here before. Graham High School was in confusion, and we were trying to see everything at one glance. We were on our own now and we were dismayed. But after assembly and our warm welcome at G.H.S., we felt a little more at ease. During our first week we were constantly on the move, learning all about Graham High - her rules and her ideals. By the end of the week we were beginning to learn our way around. We learned what time every bell rang and just exactly how much time we could waste in the halls before each class began. We found out what was expected of us as Freshmen and soon were adjusting to high school activities. We began to know everyone better and discovered that everyone had something of value to offer. Some of our girls began dating upperclassmen and all of us started doing ' and 'going ’ more than ever. Phys. Ed. became a daily routine for us all and we ran through our daily paces with vigor and enthusiasm. Now our feeling for Graham High School is no longer one of uncertainty and nervousness. As we walk down the corridors, chat in the halls, or take part in assembly, we know that this is our school and these are our friends. Graham High School has become a part of us and we are eager to return next year. Next year . . . we CAN be casual. 4] Fan-Loovin te Freshmen Adcock, Rosemary Allen, Betty Jean Allen, Susan Andress, Charles Ashley, Barbara Ashley, Gail Ashley, Larry Barbour, Patsy Barnwell, Brenda Baxley, Mark Bayliff, Buck Bayliff, Linda Bohannon, Babs Bowland, Sally Boyd, Wilson Bradshaw, Betty Bradshaw, Margaret Brantley, Craig Braxton, Billy Brooks, Angie Bryan, Jo Bunton, Judy Bunton, Nancy Burch, Joe Burke, Dennis Carter, Vickie Caviness, Linda Clapp, Larry Cornell, Kay Councilman, Steve Crissman, Paul Crotts, Paul Davis, Joe Dickens, Ben Draemer, Charles Drawdy, Butch Edwards, Johnny Edwards, Madeline Elkins, Joselynn Ellington, Darrell Ensley, Linda Eouzan, Brian Epps, Sammy Estes, Lucy Euliss, Bonae Evans, Cheryl Faulkner, Dianne Flynt, Allen Fan-loovin {i Freshmen Glosson, Gaye Griffith, Anne Grogan, Janice Guthrie, Jimmy Hancock, Chris Hancock, Glen Harris, Glenda Harris, Travis Harris, Jeanette Hayes, Josephine Henderson, Jimmy Henley, Sheryl Holt, Danny Horne, Laura Houser, Tina Hudson, Robert Hunter, Jane James, Ronnie Jenkins, Pamela Johnson, Ann Johnson, Nickie Johnson, Ray Jones, Carol Kearns, Janice Kendall, Gary King, Sandra Kurtz, Dawn Lamberth, John Lambert, Ronnie Lambert, Sammy Lashley, Donna Lashley, Patsy Leonard, Pam Lineberry, Becky Lineberry, Brenda Linens, Jo Carolyn Lockhart, Judy Longest, Linda Longest, Nancy McAdams, Jimmy McCuiston, Brenda McCuiston, Mable Martin, Dianne Martin, Sharon Melton, Shirley Mitchell, Fred Moore, Sandra Moss, Nancy Fan-Loovin XG) Freshmen Nelson, Ted Newcomer, Butch Padgett, Carol Page, Connie Paris, Fulton Peoples, Debbie Pratt, Judy Pugh, Tony Ray, Gene Rhew, Rhonda Rhyne, Janet Rich, Marshall Riley, Ruaine Rogers, Debbie Rogers, Tommy Rose, Linda Sharpe, Eileen Sharpe, Hugh Shue, Beverly Smith, Howard Staley, R.
