Jimmy Johnston, Republican President of the United States, is spending a week's vacation at his log cabin estate on the banks of the beautiful Haw River. . . Every time you hear that familiar phrase, There they go, you will know that Nancy Moore, the famous horse rancher, has added another pile of money to her bank account of millions. . . Mrs. Alex F. Goley, the former Barbara Hill, is spending the week end in Gra- ham with her parents. She is on the way to New York with her five little M.D.'s for a singing engagement at the Opera House. . . The old saying that if you work hard you will go places has come true. Kenneth Page is now manager of the Raylass Department Stores. . . Katrina Gillespie is the head nurse at the Alamance General Hospital. . . Betty Lee Fargis has been promoted to manager of the Rose's Dime Stores in this county. . . Flash! We, the Forty-Niners, Bequeath . . . WITNESSETH, we the graduating class of Graham High School, in the year of Our Lord nineteen hundred and forty-nine, being of fairly sound mind and unusually sound body, do hereby execute this, our last will and testament, to-wit: To our beloved home town of Graham and to all the world, we leave our esteem and belief in prosperity and happiness of its future. To our Alma Mater, Graham High School, we leave everything of value that we possess except our cherished memories, which we will carry with us through the years, and treasure more as time goes by. To the High School faculty we leave our personal property including our unused credits and surplus grades, together with our heartfelt thanks and a promise to ever build on the ample foundation they have built with us. To the Student Body we leave our loyalty to our Alma Mater and our football ability, together with our good behavior and splendid grades. J. W. Sharpe wills his football ability to Bill Frick. Nancy Moore leaves her love of horses to Lorraine Layton. Joretta Tysor wills her dependability to Jimmy Lyon. William Hill leaves his excess weight to Jimmy Walker. Emma Jean Bason, the famous artist, is opening an art school in this vicinity. . . Martin Mortensen has just graduated from a high school teacher to a position as history professor at Elon College. . . Ann Robertson is a missionary in China now. . . Rachel Bulla is in New York drawing designs for dresses for one of the largest dress companies in the country. . . Ernest Allison has just been promoted to the position of manager of the Graham and Alco Theatres. . . Ellen Sykes, the great pianist, is making a tour through the countries of Europe and Asia giving concerts in the larger cities. . . Moon's Fashion Shop has a new manager, Sarah Wheeley. . . Clucky News! Eddie Smith has just added another 160 acres to his large chicken farm out in the southwest. . . Mary Virginia Buhler is quite a big-wheel in the church she attends. She is the choir director and the president of the Women's Auxiliary. . . Attention Housewives: There is no such thing as meatless Tuesdays any more, so all of you drop around to Fuller's Meat Market for all of your meats and for the lowest prices in town. . . Clara Brewer is the wife of a millionaire businessman. . . Attention Mothers! Frankie Jane Wilson is president of the Ajax Baby- Sitting Agency. . . Flash from the basketball highlights: Jimmy Fogleman has been made manager of the Washington Capitols of the Professional Basketball League. . . Harry Wilson is now the owner and manager of the new and modern Ford Motor Company of this town. . . Pete Rich is now the head engineer of the aeronautical engineer division of the Pan- American Airlines. . . Ruby Webster may be quiet, but it seems to me that she is doing pretty well. She has married the millionaire for whom she was the secretary. . . Jimmy Pickard, the great lawyer, has opened his ofhce in Graham, and I hear that he is the one to see if you are in trouble. . . Tom Welch is now the first shift boss of Travora Manufacturing Co. . . Jack Moser, the millionaire businessman, seems to be doing well with his cigarette factories. . . john Owens is now the sole owner of the Owens' Wholesale Company, which was formerly The Bradshaw Wholesale Co. . . Jane Thompson is jerking sodas, but instead of being an employee she is the employer of her own soda shop. . . Nova Boswell and jean White are very efficient secretaries. They have recently been promoted and are now secretaries for the president of the National Bank of Alamance. . . And now that I have told you what I see in the future I wish to tell you that I do not guarantee my predictions to be absolutely right, but I feel sure that each and every one of the Seniors of '49 will make a success in whatever they may do, reaching their goal at the end of the unknown trail.
