We, the Forty-Niners, Bequeath . . . WITNESSETH, we the graduating class of Graham High School, in the year of Our Lord nineteen hundred and forty-nine, being of fairly sound mind and unusually sound body, do hereby execute this, our last will and testament, to-wit: To our beloved home town of Graham and to all the world, we leave our esteem and belief in prosperity and happiness of its future. To our Alma Mater, Graham High School, we leave everything of value that we possess except our cherished memories, which we will carry with us through the years, and treasure more as time goes by. To the High School faculty we leave our personal property including our unused credits and surplus grades, together with our heartfelt thanks and a promise to ever build on the ample foundation they have built with us. To the Student Body we leave our loyalty to our Alma Mater and our football ability, together with our good behavior and splendid grades. J. W. Sharpe wills his football ability to Bill Frick. Nancy Moore leaves her love of horses to Lorraine Layton. Joretta Tysor wills her dependability to Jimmy Lyon. William Hill leaves his excess weight to Jimmy Walker. Upon CDepartingfD Farewell to Thee, our childhood fort, To Thine every class and sport, To those who taught us true and long, To stalwart be in shunning wrong. As we Thy rooms and campus leave, There's none of us who does not grieve, And as we wander far and wide, Fore'er we'll speak of Thee with pride. When in our heads gray hair will grow, When faltering are our steps, and slow As swiftly fades our carefree youth, Still euphony will be but truth. In parting, our most hopeful trust Is that the ones who follow us Will be but greater, stronger throngs, And sweetly sing the parting songs.
