ahr (Eorral Published by the Student Body and Edited by the Senior Class of the Qraham High School. Uulumr 111. Nittttern-ljuuiireii tumtty-atx. DEDICATION To Mrs. Addie M. Graham, who has al- ways manifested an abiding interest in the Public Schools of Graham by generous gifts of land and money: and who, through the chair of Bible which she is maintaining in our schools, is writing something of her own beau- tiful Christian spirit into the lives and char- acters of the boys and girls, the future men and women of Graham. As an expression of the highest tribute we can offer to the best friend of the Graham Public Schools, this book is affectionately dedicated. FOREWORD Greetings, Students and Friends of G.H.S.: It is with pleasure that The CORRAL STAFF gives to you a record of the worthy deeds wrought by those in our midst and a likeness of each individual, be it ever so homely or comely. By this means only, can you appreciate the intellect, talent, beauty and achievements of the Student Body of 1 926. And why the rest seem to notice And envy us each day? Now if you stop and take a look, It will not seem so queer; Why we are so important. And are the best ones here— We're Seniors! We’ve studied and studied for so long, And now at last we're thru: We’re ready now to take our stand, Against the best of you. We've struggled hard these marks to make. To win this height of fame; And now we have our heart's desire. We have won ourselves a name; We're Seniors! Oh yes, we all were once just Fish. And as green as green could be: And then Sophomores we became, Who giggled and laughed with glee. Then to the Juniors we did go. And then, we began to shine; But now, we are the very best, And are shining all the time: We’re Seniors! We're leaving now, this good old school. Our classmates and teachers kind: And it casts a shadow o’er our joys To think of those we’ll leave behind. We wish to thank our teachers, For all they’ve said and done; And to you, fellow students, let us say, If you want to have some fun— Just be a Senior! —Mattie Queen Price, ’26. We, the class of '26, being about to pass out of this realm of education, do hereby make and publish this, our last will and testament. We do dispose of our privileges, talents, or otherwise, as follows: ITEM: We give and bequeath to our long suffering faculty of instructors all the amazing and startling data which we have from time to time furnished them on our examination papers. ITEM: We give and bequeath to our superintendent, Mr. I. T. Gilmer; to our principal, Mr. Stanley Peavy: and to our sponsor, Miss Nell Sammons, partial credit for any fame or glory attained by us in the future. ITEM: We give and bequeath to the coming Senior Classes, all the Senior privileges and rights, but these are accompanied by the saving grace of discretion. ITEM: We give and bequeath to the next Senior Class, the care of the Boxwood Hedge which our Superintendent brought us from Mt. Vernon. May this plant grow in size and strength even as we desire our school to grow. ITEM: (I) We give and bequeath to the Class of 1927, the duty of maintaining the ideals of Graham High, as befits a Senior of this worthy school. (2) Also we bequeath to the Class of ’27, the Salt Cellars, the middle tier of seats, and especially, the privilege of warming” that row of seats immediately under Miss Sammon’s jurisdiction,—namely, the front row. ITEM: The following are trifles, but we hope they will be accepted in the same spirit as we give them: First—To the coming Senior Presidents, Howard Farmer's silver tongue. Second—To Bully Price and the coming football team, the 1925 team's stamina, stickability. and success. Third—To the rest of our schoolmates, we bequeath any wads of gum, candy wrappers, pencil stubs or returned test papers which are found on the premises. We do hereby appoint those of us who needs must remain behind, executors of this, our last will and testament. Harley ODE TO THE JUNIORS Leaving our foot prints for the Sophs, as a guide We Juniors are striving for the higher goal. To reach this, we have come to decide Each Junior must play his own role. Just look at the excellent attendance we've had, As a reward, to the movies we go; To be regular and prompt is not so bad But only team work can make it so. This team work brought grades that were high To the Juniors in Graham this year. No other class passed or came nigh— Now, a record we all hold dear. Who was the hero destined by fate To carry the ball o'er the loam? Why, Rosie! Yes, Rosie! at Victor's gate Crowned for the bacon” brought home. So. luck, and good wishes to each and to all Our school days are always the best; Walk the straight path and you’ll never fall And in Life's exams you'll pass the test. —Della Collier, '11. ■■BIhh OFFICERS Charles Hutchinson____________________________President SALLIE Joe Casey—...................... But we always master them at last. In football we gave the team this year, Brewster and Couger who helped carry the ball. In basket ball we have also taken the lead. We have the stars that show the speed. We work very hard but we don't profit much, Because the lessons to us seems all in Dutch''; But when we become Seniors and look back at last, We will be glad we studied and passed. —Altha Northum, '28. In the number of members, at least, they surpassed all the other classes, for this class is certainly the largest that has ever enrolled in G.H.S. At first they progressed very slowly but now, by diligence and perseverance, they have successfully gained the first rounds in the ladder of success, and judging by their present prospects they will eventually reach the top. a Pane 36 FRESHMAN OFFICERS Joe Cockerell______________________________________________ President HOWARD Bowron______________________ ....__________________ Vice-President Robert Lee Price,.______________ _____________________ Secretary-Treasurer SPONSORS Miss Fitzpatrick Miss Straw CLASS ROLL Louise Askew Lucille Bennett Dorothy Binkley Bessie Bryan Blanch Burgess Jewell Burgess Margaret Casey Bennie Caudill Breckie Caudill Bertha Copeland Ruth Denson Lucille Eddleman Marguerite Fawks Ruby Fry Annie Margaret Gilmer Grace Hamer Addra Harris Mildred Helm Elva Herndon Trula Hufhincs Tina Humble Willie Hunter Bessie Keel Jessie Keel Vonnic Kimbrcl Katharine Lamons Ruth Lamons Jeanette McClure Lela Fac McEntirc Hermic Massegec Agnes Mayes Lucille Moore Evelyn Neill Edna Powell Eatine Price Pauline Price Henryetta Schuster Alma Smith Vera Stephens Blanch Reeves Nadine Stewart Vera Thompson Emma Jean Van Buskirk Emma Walker Dorothy Frances Watkins Raymond Rhodes Lester Ringgenbcrg C. The season was a success in both foot- ball and finances. Most of the credit should go to our Coach. He put the men in shape and kept them there. He was one of the best in the State. We started the season by playing two A class teams, Mineral Wells and Cisco. We were defeated in scores, but not in spirit. The next games were the ones that counted. We were very successful with the B” class schools. We were Class “B” Champions of Districts 4. 5, 6 and 9. We could never fully express our gratitude to the merchants and townspeople for their support during the season of '25. We were never in doubt as to their support under any conditions. I he Graham Estate recently donated to the Graham High School a field for an athletic stadium, for which we are very grateful. Waltemar (Bud) Stewart Center This fightin’ little center had a million dollar smile for everyone, and made many sensational tackles. Johnnie (Babe) Matthews Left End Johnnie's starring not only sur- prised but thrilled every football fan. Donald (Willie) Stewart End Don always played the game and broke up many end runs, which might have resulted in our defeat.
