She is well known to every student, as library work is a must at Graham. Her attractive and original bulletin boards and the pleasant air of informality make the library a delightful place to study. Two of Mrs. Compton ' s hobbies are riding horseback and writing poetry. People I Heads up, girls. Here ' s the photographer! Three years of physical educa- tion are required for all students. Dalton Chapter of the National Honor Society proudly display their new banner. 1 i ! i and Things Graham keeps up with new trends and here we see a class of programmed algebra. the difference! It wasn ' t even their lunch hour. Paula Hill and Margie Black were selected to attend Girls ' State at Radford College in the summer of ' 61. In the auditorium is a picture familiar to all students. For years S. N. Huffard served on the School Board and presented the Huffard medal to the highest honor student. His son continues this in his memory. Mr. Dalton says this was a posed pictured. He really doesn ' t fish through the ice or on school time. M May Day ' 61 Crowning of a May Queen is one of the most beautiful activities of G.H.S. This year the May Pole dancers were the tenth graders. Attendants Margaret Davidson and Carolyn Patton Paulanna James was crowned Queen. Junior Senior Prom Highlight of the year for the upper classmen is the prom given by the Juniors in honor of the Seniors. Miss Teenette and Miss Tri-Hi-Y and their attendants. Bradley are their sponsors. Y -Teens This club is affiUated with the YWCA. It is composed of ninth grade girls. Mrs. Dunn and Mrs. Garwood are their sponsors. Band The band is very proud of the new uniforms. No wonder they have made such a good showing!
