James Powers James Gross John French ECHOES FROM THE PAST Graham High graduates may be found in many fields. Some of them have made names for themselves and in that way reflect glory on their alma mater; many of them have re- mained in the background, as far as publicity is conceived, and are just general, all-round good citizens. The parents of many of our Graham students are themselves graduates of Graham High. A few names have been selected at random and the fields into which they have gone; Willis Anderson, Carl Gillespie, and Garnett Shufflebarger are lawyers. Dr. Douglas Crockett, Dr. Cecil Chandler, and Dr. Forrest Shufflebarger chose the medical profession. Robert Homer Anderson and T.D. Yost are ministers. Bill Dudley is Graham ' s only all-American football player. Five of the teachers at Graham are former graduates of the school: Greta Warden Gillenwater, Ann Shufflebarger Haner, Josephine Perry Wingate, Nancy Omar Trenton, Carmen Carter. Vincent Sexton is Judge of The Circuit Court of this section of Virginia. Thelma Phlegar Owens has just published a book Daddy Was A Doctor. J. G. W. Gillespie is a dentist. This list could go on and on as our graduating classes increase in size from year to year. Many of our boys went into service and a number gave their lives on foreign battle fields. Many boys and girls are in The Armed Forces now. We salute you, former students and graduates. This year ninety-five more will join the ranks of Graham High graduates.
