STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council is the governing body of our secondary schools. The primary purpose is to teach the students good citizenship. This is done by providing activities in which each inidividual receives the power of self-discipline within themselves. Another function of the student council is to promote school spirit and good sportsmanship. This is done by offering the class tournaments, an activity in which each student participates. The Student Council is made up of a president, which is elected by the student body the preceeding year, and a representative from each home room. Being a member of this worthy organization is truly a great honor. It has rules and regulations that must be followed in order to provide the basis for a good school government. By keeping in step with the student council we will all benefit in education and receiving training in good citizenship. THE BOARD’S VOICE IS THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE TRUSTEES ELECTED IN THE DISTRICT ARE THE GUARDIANS OF OUR SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT Paul C. Bartlett has held the office of Superintendent of Schools for the past eight years. Mr. Bartlett received his A.B. degree from Fairmont State College and M. A. Degree from W. V. U. His is affiliated with the Blueville Methodist Church and is a member of the local Lions Club, a Mason, and is a member of the W. Va. Education Association, National Education Association, and American Association of School Administrators. John B. Jenkins, James Kerns, Mildred Keefer, Chester Blue, Kenneth Godwin, Paul C. Bartlett. ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT Ronald Knotts has held the office of Assistant Superintendent of Schools since his appointment in 1949, having taught in this county since 1929. He obtained his A. B. degree and his A. M. degree from W.V. U. Mr. Knotts has been Campaign Director of the Annual March of Dimes since 1947, and is a Lay Leader of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He is also Treasurer of the Taylor County Chapter of the American Red Cross. 10
