Wendel Blair Turner Wendel proudly takes his place as third ranking student. An outstanding mind is one of the prime characteristics of Wendel. He really likes to understand. We'll miss that battered truck and the cheery, beep , beep! that tells us Wendel's here. David Thomas Norris Ranking fourth is David Norris. A happy smile and an interest in sports (golf) as well as knowledge characterize David. It can truly be said that he's been a pleasure to have as a classmate. Francis Lucas Warder Francis Warder captures fifth place in the class of 19 4. A versatile, interesting person is our Fran. He plays golf, swims, plays basketball, sings in the choir and has had time to make top grades besides. A delightful sense of humor tops off his personality Sharon Dawn Bolyard Sharon Bolyard has slipped into sixth place among her classmates. Quiet speech, a shining smile, and a quick mind compose this honor student. Sharon, too, has time for other activities besides studying, among these areA.T.C., mixed chorus, and many others. Thomas Michael Foley Mickey, a man of many facits, has also gained sixth place. About his studies he is serious, but one look at his smile lets you know' that he's fun to be with. Mickey is also noted for his excellent manners. Charm, intelligence, and a sense of humor make Mickey a grand person. 11

SALUTATORIAN MARGARET LEE NEWLON Margaret Newlon has also maintained a high scholastic record during her high school career. She has been selected by the commercial department as the most outstanding student for the year. The selection for this high honor is based upon loyalty, dependability, poise, and service. For the past two years Margaret has worked as an office assistant and served as a member of the A. T. C. She is also a member of the Webster Baptist Church, secretary of the Sunday School and president of B. Y. F. In her community Margaret has been an active 4-H member. Rita Sharon Mendleson Rita Mendelson has placed seventh in her class. Here's a girl whose mind ranges over many subjects. First in fashion -- first in studies is Rita's slogan. Maybe she'll be a designer. Harvey DeBoy Thorp Hard working Harvey Thorp has taken over eighth place. A student who is very likely to succeed; (we'd be shocked if he didn't). Besides being a top student, Harvey has worked, before and after school, for four years and has become a trusted and efficient employee of a local firm. When Harvey says, May I have your attention, please?, we're sure he'll get it. Roy Edwin Knight Grafton High School's Music Man has placed ninth in his class. If it's piano, bass clarinet, organ, or just good singing you're after, Butch can provide it. He takes music lessons at W. V. U. and studies besides. Butch is one of our most versatile students. Margaret Ann Squires Donna Sue Watts Hard studying has placed Margaret Squires in tenth place. She too is one who has the determination to do much with her life. Besides her studies she is active in church. A sweet person, a good student, a nice girl --that's our Margaret. Donna Watts has also achieved tenth place. One of the twins who've graced our halls for four years. Donna's dark brown eyes sparkle and her smile glows. She's a good student and an active participant. 12
