VALEDICTORIAN JOHN EDWARD WHITESCARVER To a very deserving lad goes the honor of Valedictorian of the class of 1964. John Eddie Whitescarver, in addition to maintaining a very high academic record, has found time for many outside activities. For the past two years he has been a member of the National Honor Society, worked as an office assistant, and been on the track team. While a junior he was a delegate to the White House Conference for youth. John Eddie is a member of the Beulah Baptist Church at Pruntytown, a member of the youth choir of the church, and an active member of B. Y. F. He has served his community as senior patrol leader of Boy Scout Troop 51 and is an active 4-H member. 9

1111 RETIRING TEACHERS Audrey Vincent Yoho M. A. , A. B. Mr. Yoho is our capable teacher of algebra, plane geometry, solid geometry, and trigonometry. He is often heard saying Now, look, and saying it's his turn to laugh on report card day. Mr. Yoho, who has taught at G. H. S. for thirty -four years, is a sophomore class sponsor. Mr. Yoho was bom in Silver Hill in Wetzel county. He attended school there to the eighth grade and then taught for a few years. He then went to Fairmont State where he took both high school and college work. Later he attended the University and took sufficient work to complete his Masters Degree. Mr. Yoho likes to work in his garden, raise fruit trees and bees. He is often seen hurrying home to watch his favorite television program, Queen for a Day. v.v. . AUDREY VINCENT YOHO • • • • • • • • . . • • •.. v.v ‘• •1 , .v Torlock Rassmussen Mr. Rassmussen received his B. S. degree from Columbia University and his M. A. from West Virginia Wesleyan. He began his teaching career at Elkins, where he taught for three years. Mr. Rassmussen then held the position as principal at Junior High for twenty-three years. Two years ago, at the point o retirement, Mr. Rassmussen came to the high school to teach Chemistry. Due to the lack of a teacher. SALUTATORIAN MARGARET LEE NEWLON Margaret Newlon has also maintained a high scholastic record during her high school career. She has been selected by the commercial department as the most outstanding student for the year. The selection for this high honor is based upon loyalty, dependability, poise, and service. For the past two years Margaret has worked as an office assistant and served as a member of the A. T. C. She is also a member of the Webster Baptist Church, secretary of the Sunday School and president of B. Y. F. In her community Margaret has been an active 4-H member.
