DEDICATION Edward A. Whitescarver Mr. Whitescarver, assistant principal, is friend, confidant, and advisor to all the students of Grafton Senior High School. Mr. Whitescarver graduated from Grafton High School in 1931. He attended Alderson Broaddus College and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1935. He obtained a Master of Arts Degree from West Virginia University where he served as a graduate assistant in the College of Education and was elected to Kappa Delta Pi, national honorary in Education. While in college he participated in football, baseball and track. Mr. Whitescarver began his teaching career at Flemington High School in September 1937 where he remained until the fall of 1959 when he came to Grafton. At Flemington he served as teacher of English, French and World History, and served as Advisor of the Senior Class. 4

t During World War II, Mr. Whitescarver served in the United States Army for three years and attained the rank of Lieutenant. On February 12, 1944 he was married to the former Anne Benda of Flemington who teaches Home Economics in Flemington High School. They have one son, John Edward, a sophomore in Grafton High. Mr. Whitescarver enjoys all sports in season but is partial to football. Recently he has derived much pleasure from playing golf. He is quite active in church work, holding membership in the Beulah Baptist Church of Pruntytown where he serves as Church School Superintendent and Deacon. He is a member of Grafton Lodge No. 15, A.F. and A.M. and Taylor County Post No. 12, the American Legion. One of his favorite pastimes is singing. He sings bass with his church choir and often sings with E.U.B. Mens Chorus and the Blueville Methodist Men. His basic philosophy is the Golden Rule, Do unto others as you would have others do unto you, which he puts into practice in daily life. In appreciation of his sincere interest, helpful advice, and kind understanding, which have been a source of inspiration to our class, we, the seniors of 1961-62, gratefully dedicate this issue of the Re-Echo to Mr. Edward A.
