There is always one cheery person who brightens up your day. no matter how much school can get you down. just by smiling and saying hi. Our school is no exception. There is one man who has swept his way into our hearts. in all ofthe four years we have been here, with his happy-go-lucky attitude. That man is Chet Zaleski. His never-ending good humor and stead-fast devotion to our school and our class are the reasons we are dedicating this yearbook to him. We hope your years in retirement are happy and many. Thanks. Smiley. We love you. Lb, ,. It all began at 7:45 a.m. in September of 75 as we entered the doors and felt quisey as we saw the big bad seniors for the first time. That was the beginning of choas, hardwork, Room ll, detentions and other unforgettable events that would take us through 79 when we all could . . . REMEMBER WHEN! Remember the big DRUG BUST of 77 when Mrs. Schneider caught 21 girls in the bathroom smoking. . .POT?? Remember when . . . Grafton had a winning football team - Rah Rah School was dismissed at 8:45 a.m. - Woops Mr. Leacu had straight hair? Mr. Carter had any hair? I-Iow about when everyone froze their bun-buns off as the phantom bomb scare caller used every piece of change to call the high school! Remember when . . . The racial incidents began, and you know who put you know whose head through a locker? The Big Brake Failure that left burnt rubber on the football field! The trips to Montreal . . . those who went probably can't remember! How about the continual efforts of the Jocks and Freaks to eliminate each other and everyone's participation - What school spirit!! Remember when . . . The bus broke down and everyone toked up? Lias Gosselin mooned a car at the Framingham Mall wearing a body cast! You've heard of Flying Saucers? Well here at G.H.S. we have Flying Tables! Remember, you saw it here first! Remember when . . . 8 Everyone broke up after the prom Don Markt decided the cafeteria could use a new door, so he put his fist through a wall! Rob's P. and J's And who could forget when the high school fell under its new Regime , and the word teacher became synonymous with SWAT TEAM! How about the Sit In that followed the new Regime, as Eileen Turcott, the voice of the Students led the way to victory! Remember when . . . Breakfast was a bowl of Miniwheats ! Smiley wore his PinStripes Wild and Crazy Gary Rochford insisted he was Steve Martin?'? Eddie Englehart took a nose dive off the table . . . while modeling! The little creatons of the night moved the battling cage on the football bleachers. and their conspiraters decorated the school with everything imaginable? Remember when . . . Kenelm Bridges was changed from a private school preppie, into a Grafton socialite? WOW MAN! Kissing in the halls . . . hehe Parties . . . Pat's, Checkout, Ed and Ellen's . . . Acapulco Gold . . . Etc Dropping Acid in the Art room? Remember when . . . Lunch was too good to have a FoodFight? Me Neither!! And to sum it all up, who could forget when the principal forgot the words to the Pledge Allegiance?! What a Rush! It took all these things and more before we were finally free from Grafton High School, on May 25. 1979, Graduation Day! Remember this . . . We also did very well in the district relays and we were edged out of second by one point in our league meet. During the course of the season we broke school records in the 2 mile run. mile run. and mile relay. Our season was successful because of a total team effort held together by a group of outstanding seniors. The Girls' Track team compiled a 6-7 record over the course ofthe 1979 season. In its fourth of organized competition the team continued to show signs of steady improve- ment as evidenced by the 8 new school records established and a strong 6th place showing in the District III relay competition. s 'qllfqfl 107 Softball - Baseball 79 v if f ' A v ' ' ' ' ' i , .AI 0 . The final record of 4 wins and 15 losses was deceiving in that the team played well in all but three games, and the unexperience showed itself by losing several games in the late innings. Rob Ledoux pitched well, getting all four wins, and turning in excellent performances in losing efforts as well. Mike Curtis played super defensive ball in center field, while Jeff Moriarty hit well. Peter Drackley's catching, hitting, and hustle never ceased. Freshmen Tom Hussey, Scott Novick. Tom Morris, Pete Tonelli, and Jim Simmoneli got much playing time. The future looks bright for the baseball pro- gram, as all these boys will be better players next year. 109 1979 Tennis 2 f'- Gaia 'RJ I' x 9035'- ,--.H-,,,,... ..
