S eniosz, CCoaa In the fall of 1941 only two of our present classmates started their years of education here at Grafton. They were Robert Nack and Donald Boeset, who were in the kinder- garten. In 1945 Rose Marie Navratil entered from country school. Six more pupils were added to the class in 1946. They were Eugene Bartz, Donald Cornoron, Richard Bartz, Shirley Behl, John Dailey, and Doris Schultz. Then in 1947, Jerry Trenhalle became a newcomer. The following year Con- rad Buehler Joined the class. Shirley Behl left us in the first semester of eighth grade, and moved to Northwood. Richard Bartz decided that eight years of school was enough for him, so he left us to farm. Conrad Buehler moved to Ohio and Donald Corporon ventured to Manly. Jerry Trenhalle left school to farm too—so our class was left with only six members. Four years ago in the fall of 1949, eleven, shy but determined boys and girls stepped, with uncertainty, over the threshold of their high school carreer. These were the sen- iors of '53 in their freshman year. This class became full-fledged high school members upon initiation by the soph- omore class. To begin our freshman year, five newcomers came in from country school. They were Darlene Berding, Jack Schotanus, Dorothy White, Doris Wilde, and Eugene Wilde. Dorothy White left us for awhile to go to Colorado, but returned later in the year. After a few weeks of the first semester, Cordelia Seegers entered from Fontanelle. Then in 1950 William Hansen came to make the thirteenth member of our class. As years went on we still had thirteen members—but in our senior year Darlene Berding departed to finish school in Mason City and John Dailey went to Manly High School. So with eleven in our senior class—we finished our high school years.
