Our ranks were depleted for the second time WHEN, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE THIRD YEAR, Dorothy Diedrich decided to turn about and RETURN HOME. ALTHOUGH SADDENED BY HER DE- PARTURE, THE SURVIVORS STRUGGLED VALIANTLY ON THROUGH ANOTHER YEAR. Mary Lifka and Marcella Krueger, however, came TO THE CONCLUSION THAT THREE YEARS WERE ENOUGH AND RETIRED TO THE REAR - MARCELLA TO A LIFE OF WEDDED BLISS, WHILE MARY MADE THE LONG TRIP HOME . Undaunted by hardships, and the leaving of some OF THE:R CLASS MATES, SHIRLEY ANN MAY, MAXINE Nitcher, Keith A Bork, William Nack, Lowell Schultz and Jack Kuehn had run the race and CROSSED THE FINISH LINE.
