SEN IOR CLASS HISTORY (In writing this history we shall disregard THOSE PUPILS WHO HAVE COME AND GONE, MOVED IN AND MOVED OUT, AND DEAL ONLY WITH THOSE WHO WENT ON INTO GRAFTON High) Little did anyone know that of the seven BRIGHT YOUNGSTERS THAT HAD COME TO THEIR FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL ON THAT THIRTIETH DAY OF August, i937, only three were to continue on INTO HIGH SCHOOL, AND OF THESE THREE, ONLY TWO WERE TO COMPLETE THEIR HIGH SCHOOL COUR- SES. The first important addition to the class came on September 4, i949, when Keith A Bork MOVED UP FROM THE SECOND GRADE. ON NOVEMBER FOURTH OF THE SAME YEAR, LOWELL SCHULTZ MOVED IN FROM THE FARM TO ADD HIS NOBLE PRESENCE TO THE ROSTER. No FURTHER NOTABLE CHANGES OC- CURRED UNTIL THE APPEARANCE OF MAXINE MARIE NlTCHER, ON THE FIRST OF SEPTEMBER IN THE YEAR OF FOURTY-ONE. THESE THREE, TOGETHER WITH THE THREE ORIGINALS (JACK KuEHN, WILLIAM Nack, Marcella Krueger) finished out the GRADES TOGETHER. WHEN THEY RETURNED ON SEP- TEMBER THIRD, NINETEEN FOURTY-FIVE, TO COM- MENCE THE FOUR YEAR TREK THROUGH THE RUGGED WILDERNESS OF HIGHER LEARNING, THEY WERE HAP- PY TO WELCOME SHIRLEY MaY, MARY LlFKA, Dorothy Deidrich and Vivian Miller, four GIRLS FROM THE COUNTRY, TO THE CLASS. Vivian Miller was the first to drop by the WAYSiDE WHEN SHE THREW IN HER LOT WITH THE Mason City Institute of Tutorage after only EIGHTEEN WEEKS WITH US. Although the terrain was becoming increasing- ly ROUGHER, AND GREATER HARDSHIPS WERE TO BE ENDURED, SOMEHOW NO ONE GAVE UP DURING THE SECOND YEAR OF OUR TREK.
