Don Iverson has been crowned King of the Indianapolis Speedway. He has had only one crash in these past ten years. This brings his total up to two. Maynard Holland, we find, is giving dancing lessons in the South Pacific Islands, and here, also we find Catherine King trying to sell a ducky blue battleship to the King of Arabia. Gwen McWilliams, world famous scientist, is attempting to prove Darwin's Theory . So far she has been doing very well. Donna J. Flannegan after ten years has graduated from Nurse's Training and has married one of the high ranking brain specialists from Iowa University. The couple are leaving for Washington D.C. very soon where they will begin work in their clinic for under- privileged Chinese boys. Avery Bonstead after ten years of courtship with the same girl has given up and is now general manager of the Disabled Bachelor's Apartments with Arvid Peterson and Richard Jensen as honorary members. Mary Hanson with her family of ten was having an extremely difficult time on board the barge with her triplets, Hank, Frank, and I ank, who were amusing themselves by hang- ing out head first from the port-holes. Joan Christiansen is receiving laurels as a world renowned soprano. In her latest stage success, she ably portrayed the role of Carmen. Frederick Wilken has just returned from the dark continent of Africa where he is operating a prosperous date bureau for the not-so-intelligent natives. He is doing a thriv- ing business. Class Prophecy Our class of 1950 started their careers with a bright and shiny new half-century. What have ten vears done to tarnish or polish this endowment ? Fulfilling a pact made by the Senior Class of 1950 to discover each others fate, thirty-five of us met at the designated place, a coal-barge headed for the Rock of Gibralter on May 26, 1960. Those unable to attend included: Eugene Baedke, noted anthropologist, who at the time was on a world tour in search of the lost chord and the missing link. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Reynolds were occupied at the time as Mr. Reynolds was rebuilding the Brooklyn Bridge which collapsed under the weight of Leroy Skow's moving vans. Leroy is serving a ten year jail sentence for the offense. Mrs. Reynolds was occupied with house- hold duties and the care of their five children. se rest of our classmates met at the port of New York and boarded the barge. Ten years nad done a lot to change many of our friends. These are some of the results over a ten yea r period. Mrs. Darrel Malm, the former Doris Baxter, whose husband is now general manager of the Emmetsburg Rendering Works, distributed samples of the new perfume she is now endorsing. Lois Sandvig, noted missionary and theologist, visited her old classmates until she had to meet necessary travel requirements to journey to the heart of Africa to convert the natives there. Lois reports that they just eat up religion. She is the fourth missionary to go there in four months. Ione Tonderum told us that she has won a reputation as Graettinger's most skillful and reliable blacksmith, Recently she has received an award from Ames College for shoeing the most horses in a single year. Mr. and Mrs. Norris Rierson, Mrs. Rierson being the former Betty Westergard, are prosperous mid-western farmers, owning a Cadillac and jet propelled 1960 Buick. Shirley Young is now a stewardess on the Comet Line which attempted the first space trip to the moon. Shirley assured us the trip was a success, but she prefers the U.S. to the moon. Jack Platter has risen from garbage collector to night watchman in Graettinger. Josephine Fitzpatrick is the owner of an antique shop featuring Beryl Starkey and his Chrysler. Mavis Knutsen has recently achieved great fame as a model. Mavis is now posing for Old Dutch Cleanser advertisements. Robert Thomsen having failed his course in Engineering has taken up peddling patent medicine, and is eluding the wiles of Don and Ron Oleson, Policemen. Z1

Now that the class of '50 has seen each other, we realize that each one of us has made a place for ourselves in the world. As our barge hit the icy waters of Gibraltar, we agreed to hold an Alumni banquet in another ten years to see what another ten years win do for us. ' , l A Class History In September, 1946, forty-six Freshmen started their cruise up the river with their main objective being to reach its mouth, or graduation, by May, 1950. The crew was composed of Eugene Baedke, Avery Bonstead, Elaine Brobst, Floyd Chrestianson, Joan Christianson, Agnes Dalen, Catherine Elsenbast, Delores Fisher, Josephine Fitzpatrick, Donna Jean Flannegan, Maynard Holland, Donald Iverson, Richard Jensen, Catherine King, Mary Kirkegaard, Mavis Knutsen, Vera Mammen, Mary Lou Marine, Janet Marxen, Marlene McDonald, Patrick McDonald, Gene McDonald, Gwendolyn McWilliams, Duane Munson, Donald Oleson, Ronald Olson, Arvid Peterson, Jack Platter, Shirley Rasmussen, John Reynolds, Norris Rierson, Lois Sandvig, Richard Schaney, Myrtle Simonsen, LeRoy Skow, Beryl Starkey, Robert Thomsen, lone Tonderum, James Voigt, Kenneth Vollmert, Edna Westergard, Betty Westergard, Donald Westfall, Mary Wolfe, Shirley Young, and LaDon Zitterick. The fall of 1947 found that seven of them had been taken by the current and were no longer with us. They were Agnes Dalen, Gene McDonald, Duane Munson, John Reynolds, Richard Schaney, Kenneth Vollmert, and Edna Westergard. Two new members, Fred Wilken, and Merle Meyers were added to our crew. When our cruise was half completed, the fall of 1948 found that three more of our loyal crew members had left us. They were Marlene McDonald, Patrick McDonald, and Donald Westfall. Two crew members had become tired of their names, so they changed them from Elaine Brobst to Elaine Reynolds, and from Mary Kirkegaard to Mary Hanson, respectively. Also we found that three seamen had joined us. They were Doris Baxter, Bill Reynolds, and Bob Gile. There were now forty-one in the crew to start the second half of our cruise. Our last stretch, which began in September, 1949, found that our crew ,had not changed much, only that Bob Gile and Merle Meyers had gone and another one of our crew members changed her name from Mary Wolfe to Mary Hash. And so ends the voyage which we began hopefully four years ago. In spite of the storms and tempests, we have successfully completed our journey and are now ready to take our places in the big, wide world. Z3
