Class Prophecy Our class of 1950 started their careers with a bright and shiny new half-century. What have ten vears done to tarnish or polish this endowment ? Fulfilling a pact made by the Senior Class of 1950 to discover each others fate, thirty-five of us met at the designated place, a coal-barge headed for the Rock of Gibralter on May 26, 1960. Those unable to attend included: Eugene Baedke, noted anthropologist, who at the time was on a world tour in search of the lost chord and the missing link. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Reynolds were occupied at the time as Mr. Reynolds was rebuilding the Brooklyn Bridge which collapsed under the weight of Leroy Skow's moving vans. Leroy is serving a ten year jail sentence for the offense. Mrs. Reynolds was occupied with house- hold duties and the care of their five children. se rest of our classmates met at the port of New York and boarded the barge. Ten years nad done a lot to change many of our friends. These are some of the results over a ten yea r period. Mrs. Darrel Malm, the former Doris Baxter, whose husband is now general manager of the Emmetsburg Rendering Works, distributed samples of the new perfume she is now endorsing. Lois Sandvig, noted missionary and theologist, visited her old classmates until she had to meet necessary travel requirements to journey to the heart of Africa to convert the natives there. Lois reports that they just eat up religion. She is the fourth missionary to go there in four months. Ione Tonderum told us that she has won a reputation as Graettinger's most skillful and reliable blacksmith, Recently she has received an award from Ames College for shoeing the most horses in a single year. Mr. and Mrs. Norris Rierson, Mrs. Rierson being the former Betty Westergard, are prosperous mid-western farmers, owning a Cadillac and jet propelled 1960 Buick. Shirley Young is now a stewardess on the Comet Line which attempted the first space trip to the moon. Shirley assured us the trip was a success, but she prefers the U.S. to the moon. Jack Platter has risen from garbage collector to night watchman in Graettinger. Josephine Fitzpatrick is the owner of an antique shop featuring Beryl Starkey and his Chrysler. Mavis Knutsen has recently achieved great fame as a model. Mavis is now posing for Old Dutch Cleanser advertisements. Robert Thomsen having failed his course in Engineering has taken up peddling patent medicine, and is eluding the wiles of Don and Ron Oleson, Policemen. Z1
