Do You Remember your first three months away from home. your first bed bath. the first time you did something right. that first injection. when you first charged an area. your first trip back home. the first time you were called nurse . getting off the elevator on 6A and finding nothing but pipes. a flat tire on the South Expressway. all the trips on the Gray Goose . campus restriction for 2 weeks. finding the front door locked at 7 A.M. your first precip. scrubbing with Dr. Ruth. that 69.4 in Obstetrics. working 2:30-11:00 on your birthday. that first day in I.C.U. your last day at Georgia State. that cab that never came. the hours we spent cooking the sauce for the spaghetti supper holding your breath when being measured for uniforms. your first day in pqfchiatry. the night before deadline. looking out your window into the face of Peeping Tom . coming in from a crummy date. waiting for the light to turn green. the time the flood came. riding the taxi from Georgia State. getting up at 3 A.M. thinking it was 6 A.M. getting a ticket for walking down the Freeway. falling into a manhole. the good times that we had. the detectives visit to Armstrong 301. and do you remember from sun-up to Sundown . .

Words of Wisdom Work now and sit later. You are too far gone to turn around. With God on your side, who can be against you. If at first you don't succeed try again. You can always find a helping hand at the end of your wrist. There's no justice--so don't look for any. Three stripes and you are out. Adhere to the protocol. When your come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on. Always become a woman before you become a nurse. Problems grow as you grow. Big Problem--Big Girl. Remember you chose Grady--it didn't choose you. Improvise. Being a participant is more ftm than being a spectator. If you can't be good, be careful. Individual differences is the corner stone of Democracy. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. If you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything. If you' study long, you study wrong. Never cease to persist. If you can't keep step with the others, perhaps, you hear a different drummer. Think little, Pray much. Nobody remembers the good things I do, but when I make a mistake no one forgets You will never see the sun if you don't look up. Don't procrastinate . . . because the fruit of procrastination is failure. H4
