We of the graduating class of the William E. Grady Vocational High School have been looking forward to this day of achievement for the past four years. During our first year together, when we were a collection of the lowest type of hu- man beings on earth ffirst termersj, it seemed as though graduation was only a won- derful dream, never to be realized. School then was a chore, a long hard grind that had to be put up with day by day, for the satisfaction of our parents. lt seemed as if the only worthwhile thing about it was the time spent daily with our workshop. About the end of our second year school didn't seem so bad after all. We dis- covered that teachers were human, really quite nice when you got to know them, and there only to help us, no matter how much to the contrary it may have seemed at the moment. By the time we reached our third year, school had taken on a different meaning. lt was no longer a chore, a bothersome task, interfering with our freedom and love of the outdoors. By now we had realized that we would be going out into the world to make a living, as our fathers had done before us, and that this was an opportu- nity to make that struggle as easy as possible. When in the fourth year, we at last began to think of graduation as a reality, we were still not too confident, for we had yet to prove ourselves able to meet the standard. lt was then that we appreciated, with an awakened realization, the peo- ple responsible for making us the type of student that graduates from Grady. We now fully appreciated the untiring efforts of Mr. Becker, our principal, fwho has since been appointed Assistant Superintendent in charge of Vocational High Schoolsj to make us useful, intelligent citizens of our country. We appreciated, too, the won-
