I came to Graceland because I learned English from Dr. Bethel and he told me about' Graceland college in the United States. At first it was very hard, but the students were very friendly to me and I liked the peacefulness. Since I have been here, I have learned about Ameri- can culture. I like the small classes and I can ask teachers questions. I have made many friends here. I am glad I came to Graceland. I think it is a good experience for me. --Sachiko Nagahama Kiyoshi Shin-ai talks on the phone in Edwards lounge. iPhoto: Ion Roberts! During this week of spiritual rebirth , the campus participates in a variety of religious life services and activities. This year's Renaissance Week was one to be long- remembered which touched and changed the lives of many. While the week's activities are coordinated by the Council of Spiritual Development, this year many more students became involved in the planning and preparation by serving on committees. The theme chosen for the week was Together We Shine and guest ministers were Barbara Higdon, Bill Higdon, and Richard Hawks. These three offered a balanced, valuable ministry which met a wide variety of student needs. ' The week started off with an opening celebration complete with a lighthouse, nautical decorations, and Fishers of Persons. Throughout the week, there were services and afternoon classes on topics such as the worth of- persons, decision making, women's roles in the church, and -choosing the church as a career. Other activities included dorm devotions, morning breakfasts, afternoon chats with 16fRel1g1on iz? 1'-.dxf'-': ,.U .,,:1F'f' 2 H: kj-70:1 ET' :Q - 'L . . V ' . I . iw for f- tv- 4-
