UUT I'fleDG5 Many people make up the Graceland family. They have come from many parts of the United States and from around the world to attend Graceland. These are the people we learn about and become friends with. Friends are an asset, and never lacking at Graceland. We turn to them for advice about the future, about personal conflicts, or just to sit down and talk with. The people who become your friends are not just friends for the academic year, but friends forever, even after you leave. - L.P. 1. Eighty some years ago, a brick and stone building was constructed on the crest of a hill in southern lo wa. lt stood by itselh a lonely monument. But the individuals who had raised the building dared to call it a col lege. Such was the ambitious begin ning of Graceland College. ln the intervening years, of course, the Graceland Campus has expand ed considerably. That lonely build ing, which we now call the Adminis- tration Building, remains as a symbol of our college. But it is no longer alone. Today it is surrounded by nu merous facilities, with neat lawns and trees and shrubs in between. Yes, the campus has changed over the years. And this change is a continuing process, because our campus will grow and expand as the needs of ' 2 the college dictate. One example of this process is the new Shaw Center for Worship and the Arts, which will soon be under construction. At the center of the college, how- even and overlooking the changes that occur around it, will remain the brick and stone building which was the start ot a new college many years ago and which today we call the Administration Building - the symbol of Graceland College. - D.
