They are not standards of judgment, nor are they particular modes of behavior which are consciously developed or os- tentatiously displayed, they are, rather, the accumulated traits of character which become loved and respected through long acquaintance and close as- sociation. The inestimable characteris- tics of Miss Tess Morgan cannot be cold- ly enumerated nor impersonally evalu- ated, they can be spoken of only in terms symbolic of the impress of her personality on lives which have been close to hers. To countless students she has been a demanding instructor, a warm friend, and a source of personal encourage- ment. She has been worthy of respect and deserving of the admiration of those' who have studied under her guidance. To faculty associates she has personi- fied the devotion and the concern which are vital sustaining forces in the teach- ing profession. To the college commun- ity she is representative of enduring en- deavor and consistent application of ef- fort to a profession of lasting worth., Her competence in instructing, her warmth in personal relationships, and her abun- dance of vitality exemplify a few of the qualities by which she is known. Miss Morgan has been a moving force in the development of this year- book, devoting her abilities to its pro- duction for fully half of its fifty-year growth, both in student and faculty capacities. Because of the significance of her contribution to Graceland Col- lege, and because of the depth of her dedication to the Acacia, we are hon- ored to express our appreciation in part by returning a portion of the dedication of the college to her. To Miss Tess Mor- gan we dedicate the l962 anniversary Acacia.
