CLASS HISTORY In todays world, the highest and hardest mountain to scale is that of education. There are many peaks and valleys we must cross before we reach the top. We the senior class of 1960 are nearing our first big peak after three years of hard work and striving. We now look back at the past and remember our be- ginning. In 1957 a caravan of eighteen bright eyed, cheerful girls began our journey along the trail of learning. On the second day we lost one member of our party, Miss Delores Bartel. Three days later found us with another dropped by the wayside, Miss Clara Crawley. We regretted this loss but we kept climbing. We had many enjoyable experiences along the way. Anatomy of Skeletal System and Dr. Boghead, along with the a natomy of various other things. As the going got harder a few more of our group left us. Miss Carolyn Howell, Miss Marcella Tabor. We had the highest expectations of all for the remaining party to complete the climb. But it seemed as though fate was against us, when we lost Miss Martha Faye Hawkins, Miss Mona Perkins, Miss Cathey Feret- tino and Miss Doris Smith. Our first six months were filled with struggling and trudging onward. To combat any amount of dis- appointment we may have had at this time was the receiving of our white cap and the silver cross. Capping was an impressive ceremony at the Grace Episcopal church. Now we were truly nurses. We went on the halls with much favor and enthusiasm. Our caravan traveled on, with each class the territory grew rougher and as time passed we lost a few more of our group, Miss Virginia Brittain, Miss Frances Van Court and Miss Faye Naves. Our Junior Year we picked up four new travelers, Miss Martha Faye Lineberger, Miss Jean Vanderford, Miss Shirley Leonhert. The third year on this trail was filled with both excitement and discouragement As we lost Miss Margie Griggs. By this time the most of the hardships had been overcome and we had taken on a more dignified stand. Our favorite memories are those of Junior-Senior banquet, receiving our senior bands, psychiatry affiliation in Di C. and parties. 36

As the winter snows and rains flowed away we found that along with them had gone Miss Martha Line berger, Miss Shirley Leon- hardt, and Miss Jean Vandeford. We have reached graduation, the mountain top of education. Others will climb on to higher levels and scale many more moun- tains. To our leaders and friends who gave their thoughtfulness, kindness and encouragement which helped us complete our long climb, we humby say THANK YOU. THE SENIOR CLASS 37
